i'd say they had every right not to let her in

It's funny, cuz I remember being young, and thought the world was against me, now I'm older and I know it is...
![]() ![]() We have people like J-Lo wearing duct tape for dresses, and we wonder why kids want to emulate this. We put naked women on cars to sell the car, and we wonder why women are objectified. We tell little girls stories of Princesses who need a handsome prince to "rescue" her, and wonder why women have low self esteems. Women are expected to be docile and demure, and we wonder why they stay in abusive relationships. hhhmmmm and a girl gets kicked out of her prom for doing what she sees???? Does anyone else see the irony here? |

I know this, I was 17 for a whole year this one time, back in....oh never mind that's depressing. |

Regardless of age, I thought the parents were the ones that usually buy the dress, so if that was the case then it's the parents fault. But if the girl bought the dress using her own money, you still have the right to tell her she's not wearing it. And I'm sure the parents had to have seen the dress either soon after she bought it, or the night she wore it. Either way, my daughter wouldn't be wearing it even if I had to cut the whole thing up so she couldn't wear it. Drastic? Yeah, but it beats letting my daughter go out looking like a hooker! |

You make alot of assumptions about the way people live their lives. I was on my own at 17, by choice, I didn't like my parents rules, so I got my own apartment, I worked 2 jobs and finished high school early. I'm not saying that is what this girl did, but some kids are very independant. If the dress was bad, she shouldn't have been let in, but to think that the parents did something wrong may or may not be accurate. She got kicked out becuase she didn't use her judgement. PERIOD. I think that is punishment enough. we don't need to drag her parents into this, we don't know what kind of moral fiber they have.... 17 and 18 year olds have minds of their own. |

My friends 17 year old daughter actually bought a different dress that she changed into after leaving her parents place. It didn't go over well when her mom showed up because she forgot a pin for the dress. |
