Topic: I hate Michigan | |

I have to say that most big cities you go to are very unfriendly, no matter what state you live in. I live in a small town and I love it!! People are so nice and friendly. I think that's where a lot of the differences are. Small town people know exactly what I mean!! I concur. I LOVE the small town I live in. |

I think Michigan is great!! It's that certain areas suck such as the one I live in (Flint area) You go on the west side of the state it's nice and then on the south east side it's nice (except Detroit and Pontiac) Then, we have the whole northern section and U.P. which is great, except people can't enjoy it as much now because of the economy.

I must say, I have lived in Georgia, Texas, and now I am back in Michigan. Yes the economy sucks but we have the pure raw untouched nature of the area and all the beauty of the water.

HOW COME ALL THE SINGLE WOMAN LIVE IN OHIO ,INDIANA , ILLINOIS OR PENNSYVANNIA????????????????/

I've seen a lot of the country and lived in Louisiana and Texas. Texas blows and the people are boring and one-dimensional, muggy like their weather. Louisiana has cool people and some cool towns, but Michigan has the entire package, minus the economy. We have unique places. Detroit has lots of cool stuff if you get over the stigma. Plus, you are only a few
hours from lots of state land, rivers and forrests. We have Grand Rapids and Traverse City, both cool places, and you can't beat a summer day boating on the Great Lakes. I never noticed that southerners were all that much nicer than northerners. I think that stereotype is a farce. Winters are long, but without them you wouldn't get that feeling that comes that first 50 degree day when people put on their shorts and start bar-b-quing and chucking frisbees while piles of snow aren't even totally melted. We have a nice state. |

If you do not care for this state there are a bunch of others you can move too and bad-mouth! What what I can see most of you are relatively young, under 30. Maybe you have not Had a chance to compare states. Just wait! I've lived in Ohio,FL.-12 long, hot buggy, hurricane yrs, expensive too!!,Calif., Tx. Ny,AZ. GA>-Ugh!, Mo. and probably a few I've forgotten. Each time I left was for work and finally when I returned for good and all, I really loved this state, even if is having a tough time. You think FL. is better? Believe me they really have no work! All they have are tourists and no one can afford to go anywhere right now. But like all things you have to try it and find out for yourself. Years from now you WILL REMEMBER why you love Michigan. Thanks to the soldier who said go to Iran and or Saudi Arabia and THEN you will appreciate home and not bad-mouth a state that is doing the best it can for now. No, I am not defending Granholm, but that is another sad conversation. Good luck to all of you who are going to MOVE.

To the man who thinks 50 yrs in Mich is long enough to live here. Sir. Mich. provided you with a life for 50 yrs! If you think another state is going to be head and shoulders above Mi., leave! Go to FL.,you will be in for a very big, expensive surprise! Old or young, you do not like it? You are very free to leave and this state will not miss you!

Go to FL.,you will be in for a very big, expensive surprise! Old or young, you do not like it? You are very free to leave and this state will not miss you! why does one have to be alomst angry on someone's opinion? i love fla, all year round, and in the summer, i love mich, but the minds here in mich are sheltered from the rest of society and the world, for they choose to be for the most part, with hierarchies abound, and who they must look up to, and get in the good graces of, .....that.... i noticed here. this is a pure and simple fact. many michiganders have more closed minds for the mere reason of lack of information.......now this doesn't mean they are nieve or stupid, on the contrary, more intelligent than most, but nonetheless sullen, pessimistic, and generally negative, and straight forward with less emotion and feeling from my encounters........ it doesn't mean it's better or worse, just different. florida is about the same price as mich. taxes are much less in fla though. |
