What do you mean by "really work"? Given the diversity of people on sites like this, it seems to me that every kind of approach fails, not necessarily all the time (just saying there is not a tactic/dating style/whatever that is 100% effective). The only really well known positive aspect of being friends with someone prior to dating them is that you have a greater chance of retaining that friendship should you break up.
Sorry 'bout being such a downer, lol. P.S. Actually there is one way that works all the time: mix the blood of a ornery hippo with the tears of a clubbed baby seal, and then place the mixture underneath the pillow of the person you want to enslave, and bam, the 'perfect' spouse. |

I've had three fairly long term and happy relationships ever, and all of them started out as good friendships, and moved to dating later on. I won't do things any other way now.
