This is a true story about something I did about 4 years ago and I just had to tell it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I Didn't Know Clouds and thunder Begin to build As if my longing Thier existence willed Next to come A quenching rain Giving relief And easing pain With shampoo and a towel I head for the porch I'm going to undo What the sun did scorch My body is not Completely bare In rain soaked shorts I am unaware There in the street My head tipped back The rain soaks through Every crevice and crack On closed eyes And parted lips Land tantalizing And welcome drips My hair is wet I work in shampoo With rain down my body The bubbles slide too I've washed my hair In the middle of the street And watched the bubbles Gather at my feet I didn't know There was anyone round Till I heard the man Make a little sound On the porch I turned to look As off the chair My towel I took I gave a waive And a little grin Then drying off I went in ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ What He Said Now my hair is washed But the man still stands I've left him there Wringing his hands His eyes are wide He looks lost in thought He seems to me A little distraught I go to my room An put on dry clothes Shorts and a t-shirt Not silken hose Back downstairs To the bathroom Drying my hair Scented like a flower's bloom Fresh and revived I head outside The man's still standing With eyes open wide The rain has stopped It's a beautiful day He sees me there Not a word does he say I get in my car And go down the road My sides ache with laughter I might just explode My day is over It has turned to night Once home I see him Sitting out under the light He sits there rocking But can only stare So I walk on over And sit with him there He looked at me Then his face turned red "Did my heart good..." Was all he said ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ He Looked At Me We sat and chatted For quite a while The whole time we talked He had a smile We laughed and talked Bout the neighborhood kids And all the silly things We've watched as they did The one little boy Made pies in the mud His older sister Gave a boy a hug We talked about How my tomatoes grow And the other things I'd planted in rows When I was gone He'd watched my dog Play in the yard And chase a little frog I got up to go It was getting late I started to speak But he asked me to wait He went in the house For what I was unsure When he came back He was holding a picture He handed it to me And I took a look Seeing her image Was like reading a book I'd never seen anything like it In all of my life I looked just like His deceased wife He looked at me And said with a tear "Thanks little lady You brought my heart some cheer." |
You're right but Bob and I became wonderful friends because of this and he is a dear sweet man. He told me the story of his wife and how she died and it was like a fairy tale thier life together. |
Thanks Love! You're right but Bob and I became wonderful friends because of this and he is a dear sweet man. He told me the story of his wife and how she died and it was like a fairy tale thier life together. His wife became very ill and before they could figure out what was wrong she died. The autopsy showed she had a very rare form of bone cancer and it was fast moving. He used to love to come down to the house and help me work in the yard and garden and I would cook for us now and then and send fresh vegetables home with him. He was like a grandfather to me before I moved. I need to get in touch with him again. Thanks rush! |
Vicki
This was deeply emotional, and well written, with touches of class, your really creative woman, in your wording a love story unfolds, and a friendship is born, so visual as if sitting there myself. You have talent my girl, you should seriously publish this stuff...I mean I loved it! And so does everyone else here.. "oh humble one", don't you see how you've touched us here... Thanks for the link woman, was happy to read this! Hugs Noden |
(((Kate))) Things fall into place when and where they are supposed to in God's time just like our friendship has!
{{{Jason}}} I'm so glad you liked this and really appreciate your kind words... Just me being me. (((Susan))) Going to go see him over the weekend and am hoping all is well with him. Thanks hon!! {{{{Noden}}}} You Lady are the best!! You flatter me with your kind words and praise! This story was powerful to me when it happened and now that I have put words to it here it really feels wonderful! Thank you for reading and being a wonderful friend!! HUGGINS to ya!! |
