I feel that way about most sauces, especially blue cheese, although some prefer ranch.

Mix 1 part Ranch dressing and 1 part hot sauce...it goes with anything.

I have chicken wings and blue cheese dressing waiting for me at home.flowerforyou
I cook everything the 1st time by the book, so I know what flavor I'm looking for and then I wing it.
Baking is touchy, so it's mostly by the book.:smile:

1/2 cup Frank's Red Hot
1/2 cup butter
1 package of Italian dressing mix (Zesty if you can find it)
1 teaspoon of lemon juice

Melt the butter, add the hot sauce and italian dressing mix and then add the lemon juice at the very end. Mix 1:1 with Ranch or Blue Cheese dressing and serve with just about anything.

It's really special with fried pickles.

Cooking for me is about knowing what your doing and winging it.

When I bake I do try new things and change recipes up some. The only thing you need to know is the properties of leavening agents.
When I cook, I wing it from scratch most of the time. Last night for example, I made homemade egg noodles and tenderized beef for beef and noodles.

I am the same way.

Middle Eastern food I have been cooking for so long for my ex-husband, I can do them all by heart, but when it comes to things like last night's Chicken Marsala and Italian cream cake, I had to have my recipes taped over the oven.

i dont follow a recipe when I am cooking. I may glance at key ingrediants and then switch then around to suit my own preferences. My kids and I will try out new things all the time. We just think about what sounds good and throw it together. Most of the time it turns out great.

I do follow recipes for Baking though.

It seems I have tried out a new receipe in years. I haven't pulled a cookbook down in a long time, unless I'm making a dessert. Don't want to mess up desserts, they are too important.
