I worked cropping tabacco during summer vacations from high school in North Carolina and as part of the deal lived in a old slave house .. ummm yeah .. whats you worst ? |

Burgaw, NC
Lived in a cabin in the woods next to the Cape Fear river....water pump broke, so I was without running water for 6 months. Took showers at a friends apartment; and had to flush the toilets with river water from 5 plastic 1-gallon milk jugs. Was later thrown out and lived out of my 1990 Mustang for 2 weeks. Did laundry at the local college (thank goodness they never cancelled my student ID!) |

The floor slanted 10 degress. It smelled like bug bombs. The kids outside bounced the ball against the wall and it would bow in and out. My friend came over once and a gang fight started in front of his truck. Yeah it was pretty bad.

sort of silver bullet deal with no power or water, and one door that had to be propped to cover the doorway...
 Now I live with family in Texas...like Texas better then the other, but I miss "home"
