I posted a thread about two days ago about the 45th not getting fed right in Iraq. It has now been addressed by many officials.
While the commander in Camp Bucca replied it was true due to the fact that the food service is not getting the food to them in good eating order. So, he wouldn't allow it to be delivered to them. He says it is being fixed. Now this has been denied by the pentagon....but of course. Here is a copy: OKLAHOMA CITY -- A commander at Camp Bucca in Iraq has made adjustments in food-delivery systems there to ensure members of the 45th Infantry Brigade always have food available. A day after Eyewitness News 5 revealed that some Oklahoma soldiers were going without while serving their country, a commander at the prison camp issued a statement explaining that changes had been made to their to-go meal plans. In December, the commander explained, most meals were "exposed to dirt, heat and flies during transportation," and many of them were thrown out by the time they reached soldiers. The commander decided to take a new direction and explained the delay in receiving food was because of the change over in meal plans. PDF: Read the Letter Howard Fleshman contacted Eyewitness News 5 earlier this week after receiving an e-mail from his daughter, Kristy Watson, 26, who said she and her fellow soldiers were working up to 10-hour shifts in desert heat without any food. Specifically, the e-mail read: Hey Dad, I have an issue I think I need the family's help on. Someone decided to quit serving all the soldiers at the compounds lunch. He said he normally gets an e-mail each weekend from his daughter, who is stationed at Camp Bucca, the largest U.S. military prison in Iraq. However, he said the message he received on Tuesday left him dumbfounded. "I was surprised to receive one from her in the middle of the week. So, I guess this was something that was important to her, and she managed to get to a computer and let me know," he said. U.S. Rep. Mary Fallin contacted the National Guard before requesting that the Army look into the matter. Because Guardsmen from the 45th are in Iraq, the Army would lead any investigation. "It is extremely disturbing to hear any stories involving our men and women in harm's way being inadequately provided for," Fallin said. A spokesman for U.S. Rep. Tom Cole said his office has called the Army about the issue and is awaiting a response. More than 3,000 Oklahomans are overseas fighting the war in Iraq. The 45th Infantry Brigade has been in Iraq for nearly four months. Fleshman said he hopes his daughter's e-mail will help to serve those who serve Americans every day. "I have the ultimate respect for our military and for the job they do and for the sacrifices they make for the well-being of all of us. And, so it's only out of this concern and the concern for the well-being of Oklahoma soldiers that I'm raising this issue in the first place," he said. The family of another soldier e-mailed KOCO to say it has been sending food to two soldiers who hadn't been getting meals. Since this originally hit the news many others have also stood up and said they have been sending food because their loved ones are hungry. This is not acceptable. Our soldiers are usually fed very good. This should not be allowed for even one day. Kat |

it's hard to calm down, dear man... . when there is so much suffering & death This was kinda directed towards draoness. But i agree the situation sucks. Just something we are all gonna have to see through to the end if we don't want to commit genocide. We just need to take care of our soldiers, and i promise you, they will do the rest. |

We should be taking care of our soliders,
not starving them. There is just no excuse for this...Ever! Prayers going out for this situation... |

NO EXCUSE FOR THIS!
I't not like they CAN'T get decent food in, this is just poor managment. I am against this war , but no matter how you feel about that, our soldiers are doing their job & the government should be taking care of them! If our young people are going to be sent into harms way they deserve the best equipment & supplies we can provide. They should be as safe, healthy & comfortable as conditions allow. Sounds like a contractor is cutting corners! |

Sounds like a contractor is cutting corners! yeah, that or commanders not wanting to take a little heat and/or fill out a little more paperwork. We do need to take care of our soldiers. That is the most important thing. You take care of them, they will take care of you. But, just so you know, they are getting fed. They are just living off of bagged lunches called MRE's. Which does suck, don't get me wrong, i had to do it half way through my tour because i moved to a place that was too dangerous to have a dining facility. (Hint Hint: we did get care packages though! ) I'm sure that however messed up is taking a lot of heat from it right now since this is public. When you achieve a certain rank in the military things become political (which is b.s.) so i guarentee that someone is doing something about it because his or her career is on the line. Again to the men and women in uniform! |

thank you so much for explaining this to us
in greater detail ~ from one who has been there i'm very glad this has gone public, so something will be done about it... these people responsible need to think more of others and less of themselves.... it's sad to think that because their jobs or titles are on the line that that would be the only motivating factor for them to make it right with our soldiers... it's not like it is anything too much to ask.... basic sustenance & adequate nutrition??? such atrocities..... thanks for your service in the war and in the military respect and blessings and love to you |

I find this so totally unbelieveable. I will say nothing is impossible. Just sounds like left wing propaganda to me.
