out somewhere in public and witnessed someone being overly agressive with a child(theirs I presume) would you say something to them if it was out of line? Or refrain in fear of the child receiving more abuse at home for humiliating them in public?
Im talking cussing them out and hitting them repeatedly....would you step in....or mind your own business? Where do we draw the line with child abuse? |

If a child is struck repeatedly in public, I would step in. In my profession we are mandatory reporters, I would encourage everyone even if you think that a child is being abused, call the 800 number and report it. Reporting child abuse is not saying that someone is abusing their child, just that there is a concern.

I would call the police and then I would step in.

It is illegal and the police should be notified

The rod of correction saves from death. Some parents it seems lack good judgment, but children rarely listen to reasoning.

I would say "hey! you know thats ILLEGAL? you know that you are HURTING YOUR KIDS?? do you need me to call the police?"

I've seen it..stepped in..and called the cops on my cell phone while the red marks will still present on the child,I hate anyone who thinks it's okay to lay hands on a child.

I've done it before... I suppose I'd do it again... Same with kids picking on other kids.... Don't always have to be aggresive back, just literally step in between, get cursed at, etc.

also, for the short time i did nursery nursing, on my first day a child was having a tantrum, she said pick the child up by her legs, so i did, thinking we would just move her across the room onto the safer carpeted area, but NO, she got the childs hands and dropped her on the floor, while i was still holding her legs. they were reported and i walked out after the incident.

The rod of correction saves from death. Some parents it seems lack good judgment, but children rarely listen to reasoning. Not if you teach them from the begining. Conversation with my daughter the other day. She wanted ravioli for dinner and I had already thawed sausage and cut up vegetables. her: "Mommy I want raviolis for dinner" about the 10'th time she asked. me: "Baby, mommy is already cooking dinner, and you had raviolis already this week, I'm not discussing it one more time." her: "Just one more please mommy. Can I ask one more time?" Don't tell me kids can't reason.... You just gotta teach them young the proper way to handle situations. Hitting and cussing at a child only teaches them that is the way to "reason" |

Call the police first. Thankfully I have video on my phone and I'd tape it for evidence.

I'd run the parent down with my chair and SHOW them how it feels to be abused and attacked..Then call the cops..and tell the whole freakin story..even my part..and I'm so not joking
