would you feel obligated to watch it, even if it was horrible from the beginning?

Well my answer is that being how movie tickets and refreshment cost about the same as a mortgage payment I dunno.

I have never walked out of a movie in my life. Horrible in the beginning can always be glorious in the end.

But I am a maniac for film so I like all movies even the bad ones. I put them in the mental library so I can pull out tidbits whenever I fancy in order to stimulate conversations or whatever. It is funny how eras can be judged more familiarly or readily when you use movies as a measuring stick. Lots of people can tell me the time when "Gone With The Wind" came out but none can tell me who was in office.

viva art.

But if the movie is absolutely horrible and making me miserable to watch it, then it I'm not enjoying it and I might as well leave. I've only walked out of one movie ever. Butterfly Effect. It was one horrible traumatic event after another. When I realized where they were going with the dog, I walked out. Went to the bathroom and sat on the bench and was going to wait for my date. I was going to let him finish watching the movie. But he came out after me about 20 minutes later. I told him up front I didn't want to see that movie. But he wanted to because all his students said it was so great.

Absolutely not. If the film stinks, I'm gonna walk out. AND I'm gonna go to the management for a refund, too. I'm simply not gonna let some corporate studio get away with my money for releasing a cinematic turd.
