Still no opinions from the boots on the ground about the Iraqi Army??? Interesting I'd suggest going here. Group composed of Iraqi and Afghanistan Veterans: http://www.vetsforfreedom.org/ Haven't really looked through it before, but these guys can be often found on CNN, MSNBC, and most especially Fox News. Many of them have had more than one or two deployments in either Iraq or Afghanistan, many lifers in the military, and a few of them have received medals for their service. Pete Hegseth is a founding member of the group and has a Bronze Star, and I saw a few others have other medals as well, ontop of their service, which in itself is enough for me. Some of them have other sites, memorial sites to their fallen brothers and such as well. |

Any other time they'd be on here!
Thanks sailor I am a vet though! |

I'm big enough to admit my faults, but you have to admit that the numbers coming from the field probably aren't accurate either! Fair enough. With exception to the reported numbers possibly being so disproportionate. Especially considering the value you place on getting the words from the General as opposed to the press. Again... if 5000, 10,000 or more walked off a battle field.. We'd be hearing a lot about it for a few weeks. If 1000 to 1500 did.. of a 20 to 30 thousand man army? It is noteworthy but not anything different from the overall average. Every war has similar stories about isolated incidents of battlefield desertion, and is indicative of nothing much. Agreed...It would be interesting to see what a few soldiers think of the Iraqi Army their current capabilities and draw backs. However.. given recent events in Basra and the overall lack of chatter on the subject... It might be a fair assumption that anyone who knows, may not be talking about it on a public forum for strategic reasons. |

Like this Rapunzel?
The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not supposed to discuss policy with outsiders. An AP story I read says this 4 times!!! |
Or this story, where the AP chief complains about the loss of the freedoms the press has.
AP chief: Press should quiz candidates on open government. Curley praised congressional passage of legislation that toughened the Freedom of Information Act. But he chided Bush administration efforts that he said undercut the measure. http://www.firstamendmentcenter.org/news.aspx?id=19821 Or this one; AP Chief: Press Freedoms Among Casualties of 9/11 http://www.editorandpublisher.com/eandp/news/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1003721299 |

Still no opinions from the boots on the ground about the Iraqi Army??? Interesting I'd suggest going here. Group composed of Iraqi and Afghanistan Veterans: http://www.vetsforfreedom.org/ Starsailor, According to SourchWatch, Vets for Freedom is a "Republican front group managed by Republican-affiliated public relations, media, legal, and political consultants, including former White House spokesman Taylor Gross, to defeat candidates who advocate an end to the US occupation of Iraq". Here is the article: http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=Vets_for_Freedom More information on this group from PR Watch: http://www.prwatch.org/node/7177 And more: http://dumpbachmann.blogspot.com/2008/04/vets-for-freedom-chair-confirms.html Again, Vets for Freedom is a Republican Front Group. Next time, Starsailor, you should 'vet' your source, no pun intended. |

Ooooooooh Fanta Fanta..... so much controversy & conflicting stories it is sooo crazy Guy... and sooooo all consuming.... when will this nightmare end??? Not soon enough! 19 Americans were killed in just the last 7 days! Information is not coming out of sadr city! The press is being kept out of the loop, and my nephew has been deployed in there. Hopefully he wont be killed in this Iraqi civil war! I could handle his death alot better if it comes fighting for us instead of this Malaki fellow! |

Whats up hiker? Ive visitd a few of those sites, but it seems like a lot of politics and posers! Hi Fanta. So does that mean you do or you don't believe that Vets for Freedom is a front group of Republican-affiliated groups with the agenda of promoting the Bush Administration and the Iraq War? |
I saw a program on the local PBS that had the Afghan Army and Police being trained by a NG Unit from NC.
(Not the best training) Who is training the Iraqi's, and what kind of soldiers are they putting out. |

Still no opinions from the boots on the ground about the Iraqi Army??? Interesting Lindyy says: fanta - how is this from the "boots on the ground". My 30 year old neighbor Jason K., 1st Squadron, 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment based in Germany, was killed in action in Iraq from insurgents in the Shiite stronghold of Sadr City with a rocket propelled grenade on Monday. Jason enlisted in the Army, Jason believed in the cause, Jason wanted to go to Iraq to fight, his letters home were of encouragement and progress. His mother, Sue, is ever so proud of Jason. She supports President Bush and the war in Iraq and the war against terrorism. Sue, like Jason, understands the situtation that is going on in the world today and will continue to go on, perhaps until the end of time as we know it. Jason laid down his life for freedom and democracy, something he greatly believed in and understood. He laid down his life so people like you and the other anti-war bashers can practice your first amendment rights and mouth off to you know where and back. AS FOR JASON K. I SAY THIS: John 15:13 13: Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. I KNOW IN MY HEART the minute Jason died the Lord took him home and immediately said to Jason: Matthew 25:23 "........'Well done, good and faithful servant!" AMEN. Jason, thank you ever so much. AMEN. Lindyy |
