Regardless of what anyone else in this thread says..

This infuriates me! To start off a thread with..I Officially HATE all Cops!

My Fahter put his life on the line for over 25 years
Took a bullet, been shot at many times, even killed a couple of guys. Even though those guys deserved it, it still screws your head up!

Ended up going out on retirement for disability because of a freakin Heroin addict! And now his neck and back will never be the same for the rest of his life! Actually suffer a tremendous amount of pain daily because of it!

I could care less about your stolen car honestly..

Consider the ones that are out there saving lives and protecting us...Next to that your friends car means nothing! That can be replaced!

It's the ramblings of and immature and senseless young person, who doesn't have respect for athoruity and thinks the world revolves around them and their friends mode of transportation.

I don't see the ramblings of an immature and senseless young person.

I see a young college student upset over a stressful situation and yes, the police treated them rudely when they hung up on them.

Elsa had a bad experience.

There are good police officers and bad police officers just like in every profession.

Again.....

There are always two sides to a story

The truth lyes somewhere in between...

Pretty good feeling the whole conversation was elevated

Being upset about a car being stolen doesn't mean that the world is revolving around somebody.

My car was stolen and was found torched a week later. I did not have insurance on it. I was terribly upset to wake up and find my car gone.

I suddenly did not have a car for four months. I had to take my child to school and the grocery store in a cab until I saved up enough money to buy a car. Then I found myself looking out the window to see if I still had a car for a long time.

It's perhaps the context of the ranting and the we weren't treated like Royalty that probably confused me. Yes it is said it was stolen as it would be for anyone, but when u act as if the world should stop revolving and the police should have made it a priority your going a little to far. I suspect that the way the thread was presented is just the attitude the police got when they were called the 2nd time. There are more extreme things that go on in a city then car theft and yes sometimes u have to go to the police station and file a report and there is also such things as a TAXI CAB to get u there or even god forbid a bus.

With all due respect

This has nothing to do with the OP

Of course that sounds horribly inconvienent, and I would not want to see anyone go through that...ever

But it has nothing to do with the Police and the fact that it was stolen...

It was in reply to what Joni was saying.

I agree it should have been worded different.

I'm a huge supporter of cops, fire fighters and military. my dad and many family members are cops, i have many biker friends that have to be in law enforcement or fire fighters to join. i have done many things with them to support the force, my son wants to be a cop (which i'm very proud of) and i worked at a police station in the records dept.

most cops will tell you that there are some with attitudes that shouldn't be there. attitudes can make the situation worse instead of controlling the situation. everyone has bad days...we are human.

i didn't see where the OP wanted the world to revolve around them. they were upset because they were having trouble getting a theft report made

elsa...

if it's anything like here...the records dept handles the amendments of police reports. they take the info on the calls and sends them to the transcriptionists. or they may forward the call to the detective assigned

I managed a conveinece store when I was about 24, and got robbed at gun point, when the detectives got there, they asked questions making me think they thought I was in on it.

I went about 2 weeks later and did a line up, I asked the detective if she thought I was in on it.

Her response was "I do that to everyone, most of the time when a store is robbed like yours was, they are in on it."

She was doing her job.... PERIOD.

but they didn't let us make a report even over the phone.

They can't.

You know there is (in every municipality I know of) a law against swearing out a false report?

When you go to the cop shop and report, for example, a car as stolen you have to sign stating that the car truly was stolen. Then they can act on it. Until it's an official complaint, they're not supposed to do much becaue it's so easy to squander police resources on false complaints.

People hate cops, ok some people hate cops...until they need one.

When my car was stolen, the report was taken over the phone.

I was also told on the phone that they found my car and it was being towed to the city car junk yard. It had been torched.

Everything was taken care of on the phone.

reports are made as well on 911 calls. the cops act on those and a report is generated. there is no official charge etc until it's signed.

i agree...maybe charges can't be filed on someone without a report signed but the police can investigate etc by a call. i worked in the records dept of the police station here. i did amendments all the time if the one who called in the report called to make additions or corrections

Sounds like different places have different rules. I know when my vehicle was stolen I had to schlep my way down to the station to file the report.

So if I were to attempt to steal a kiss from you, would you have him arrest me?

salemite...i agree...i think each dept might handle things different. here (where i live) if everyone came into the station to sign a form for everything...they wouldn't be able to fit everyone. down in my town...911 is used for all calls....not just emergencies

I respect and like law enforcement officers. I may not agree with their decisions all the time but I'm not above the law.
