McCain and Petraeus Remain Gung Ho
By Steve Weissman t r u t h o u t | Perspective Monday 07 April 2008 John McCain is no warmonger, he tells us. More than most, he knows the agony of war in a deeply personal way. Why, then, does he persist in portraying Iraq, Afghanistan and the "Global War on Terror" as primarily military problems? Does he truly believe America and its allies could win all three if only we keep a stout heart and properly apply our superior force? http://www.truthout.org/docs_2006/040708J.shtml He will be more of the same garbage of the Bush administration |

John McCain voted against Martin Luther King Day. He has also been linked to government corruption. Your right, McCain is another piece of garbage like Bush.

"Piece of garbage, fascist capitalist pig, murderous war profitering swindle..." You know guys, it's that type of well balanced tempered rhetoric that so endears the general voting public to the left. If politics was nothing more than a fit of name calling, the posts above would be A+ work, no doubt.
Madison, you seem to have simply gone 'round the bend. Both Senator Clinton and Mr. Obama have raised a massive amount of money, much more than McCain. And they didn't use the capitalist system to do so? So, where are your strong words rebuking them? Wait, lean, vote, and name call in support of the left so they can use capitalism, right? So can Michael Moore and company--it's "Capitalist pig" if you vote for a Republican, but not if you are a John Edwards (rich) John Kerry (massively rich) or Ted Kennedy (very, very Rich). Let me know when you figure out how to argue that one, Okay? -Drew |

"Fascist" "Capitalist Pig" pages right out of the Socialist Doctrine. I continually have to remind you that the "Fascists" were liberals to begin with, they were for changing the old order. Calling General Patraeus a trator, wow at least he salutes our flag unlike a well known Liberal Socialist presidential candidate.
MM you need to learn Farsi so you can communicate with your new masters while you spend what is left of a short miserable life that can be ended at their whim groveling at their feet. |

I grew up conservative and live in an extremely conservative religious right community. The older I get, the more liberal I am becoming. I am proud to be called a liberal. I look up to Thomas Jefferson.

I grew up conservative and live in an extremely conservative religious right community. The older I get, the more liberal I am becoming. I am proud to be called a liberal. I look up to Thomas Jefferson. I respect that mirror I am not as cut and dried as that. I will give an example, I am on another single site and they ask you questions to determine your compatibility with others, no it is not Eharmony, anyway after answering 300 plus questions they have me classified as a republican on my political sway, so I am not a cut and dried liberal nor dem so I cannot be classified so easily. I think I lean liberal on certain issues and moderate to repub on others. I am not a fan of Bush at all, he is the worst thing for this country. I did not know the first year he was in office but after 9/11 and Katrina, he proved his worth as a president and it is absolutely nill, nada, none. |

I don't buy into the manipulation that is the false left/right paradign.
For me it's about right and wrong, When you have 900+ lies coming out of the Administration leading up to war, thats wrong. When you deregulate media monopoly laws or sit back while your BATF massacres women and children, thats also wrong. When you hold hands with one dictator giving them money and arms, but sanction and bomb the one next door, thats wrong too. People who just wander around trumpting their party's line need to step back and make some effort to be informed about the world around them. Bush is bought and paid for, just like the 3 that you're hearing about now. Go look at how many lobbyists are working in these campaigns, go look at how much of the contributions came into their campaigns from special interests and hedge fund money. Right or wrong, not left and right. |

"I look up to Thomas Jefferson. " Jefferson was for a small central government and limiting the power of government I believe that would make him a conservative if the definition of conservative is correct. Damn ya all stole Jefferson from us next thing you know you will be trying to take Ronnie Reagan and call him your own too

Why do you conservatives have to appeal to peoples sense of patriotism and religion to promote your ideas? Why cant your ideology stand on its own ? I know why. Because a lot of it is hot air. Thats why you people are losing. The people are waking up. Most conservatives are just against change but they have no solutions to offer. Thats why they gotta appeal to your patriotism and religious fervor. They dont got nothing to sell. Its hollow rhetoric

All the states ran by conservatives (like KY) are dumps and all the states that are liberal (like California) are prosporous. This is what started making me change my mind on how I view conservatism and liberalism.

By the way, Republicans are not for a smaller government. This government has grown exponentially under President Bush (Department of Homeland Security). And limiting the power of government? Are you crazy? The Republicans are for increasing the power of the government (Patriot Act).No offense, but you dont know anything your talking about
