how do you feel about the idea of a single world government and all of
it's implications? i think this is why we are having all the talk of a global economy which the us seems to be getting the short end of the stick on. i think if we kept more of our resources at home, took care of our citizens first rather than last and imposed tariffs on foreign vehicles coming into this country like they do to ours i think it would improve our economy more than hurt it and improve the problem we are currently having with all of the outsourcing. how do they expect an american to pay the exorbitant prices for goods when they keep sending our jobs overseas? do you think that everyone would buy into a world government? some prime examples of why it would not work can be seen in the u.n. and the new iraq democracy. i don't think alot of people would be willing to relinquish what they have and share it with the world, do you? |

It will come to past because the bible says it will. But I do not think the world is quite ready for it. We would need a real reason to unite like a common enemy from another world at this point in time to even get people to really think about it. But under a single goverment with all countries being more like states and a set minium wage the out sourcing problem would come to an end quickly. I remember when Levis jeans were 100% made and processed in the US. I lost my job at a place that stone washed and bleached(acid washed) jeans for them before NAFTA. Once that was past the company I worked for built a new plant in Mexico and moved the jobs to Mexico. To the people in my area NAFTA was the worst thing to ever happen to our economy since the great depression. Carrier AC company moved part of its company to mexico and moved the rest to I think MS from a local plant. Now the supporting company for them(made motors) is closing/moving. NAFTA cost my county over 3000 jobs in rural TN where the loss of just a couple hundred jobs is felt. There are not any jobs here unless you are in health care or other special feilds. We are in a global economy. I purchase goods from China, Mexico, and many more countries. In turn these other countries buy goods from us and that is normally food crops like corn, soybeans, or wheat. The problem is these goods are not making much if any money for the farmers. When you go to sell nearly any goods people look to the global market and see where they can get it cheaper. I am a beekeeper and honey has a global price. The packer will pay a bit more for US honey for 2 reasons. One is the shipping cost are less. And 2 is many countries do not have inspectors to regulate what goes into the hives(mite treatments, and other pesticide and such that are used on crops). They have to test each lot before using it and if they find the levels of certain chemicals to high it is a pain to return the product for a refund. The bad thing is selling honey in bulk us beekeepers only get roughly $1 a pound. Yet a one pound jar in the grocery store will cost you $3 or more for imported honey and $4 for blended honey(where US and imported honey are mixed) and $5-7 per pound of US honey. So I put my honey in quart canning jars which weigh roughly(no certified scales) 3 pounds of honey for $8 and specialty honeys like poplar(tree bloom which is source of honey for 2 weeks) I get $12. It pays to market many products as locally made/produced. But when you get into clothing which is light weight to ship and the labor here is double what it is over seas you will never compete making standard T shirts. 5 years ago I bought a gross of shirts in different kid sizes(6 months to 5T I think) for $5.60 a dozen with mixed colors. We bought an assortment of iron ons for 50 cents each. We had the press to put them on and made them up and sold them at the flea market for $3 each. Shirts and iron ons where made in China and Taiwan. The company we bought the iron ons from sold shirts with the prints on them but they were about $2 each this way. We had less than a dollar each in them when we did this 2 minute step ourselves. This opens another option which many products say made in the USA on are only assembled here. I sold fireworks and the lot I rented for this was at a furnature store. Many of the pieces he sold said made in the USA. He bought this stuff from China. You know how table legs can be held on with screws or bolts. All you have to do is buy this furnature completely made but not assembled without the bolts to put it together and it can legally be called made in the USA. I helped him unload the container truck and assemble a few pieces. The card board boxes said product of China but the furnature said made in the USA on the under side. He said it is because I have to furnish the nuts to put the legs on the tables and the screws for the chairs. But if they are packed with the hardware it says made in china. Weird rules but it is a way of making something made in China according to me legal to call made in the USA. |

hate to say it..but that's what happened to Canada in the initial free
trade agreement..the US actually gets Canada's resources for cheaper than we do..then we have to pay an inflated price to make up the difference, we produce way more than enuff oil for domestic needs but we're forced to export so much to the US we have to import from Venezuela and a little bit from the mid-east to meet domestic demand..how fucked is that?I lost one of my jobs because of the original US/Canada free trade agreement as well, cuz they went to the US cuz of cheaper labour. Our idiot prime Minister at the time said that there would be twice as many jobs created by free trade than would be lost. He also said that the majority of those jobs created would be in the service sector. Now here's the prob, most service sector jobs in Canada are minimum wage, whereas the average factory job where I lived paid about $18/hr(I was making $23.68/hr at the time in 1990-91)minimum rage at the time was 6/hr..so to replace the money lost to the economy, there would have to be a job creation to loss ratio of 3:1.However since most service sector jobs are part time the ratio goes anywhere from 4.5:1-6:1... they couldn't even reach the 2:1 that was "promised"....and one last thing.. a 1 world gov't would be impossible..too many religions, too many agendas, all contrasting and all with different goals |

sry to double post but it's funny when the US fucks another country they
are just living up to their "manifest destiny" but when the US gets fucked the same way it's a huge tragedy...don't get me wrong, I Love the states, hope to be living there shortly..but the world doesn't begin and end at the shores of America |

i understand that animal and i know what your talking about, my point
was to quit trying for this stuff where we give things away to try and look like the nice guy, we should take care of ourselves and we wouldn't have to worry bout it. i feel ya though, i have a decent job now but they are laying off so many people due to outsourcing that it is ridiculous but the prices on the product never comes down so basically all of the jobs are going overseas to save money, people here lose their job but the price doesn't come down so you have unemployed people who couldn't afford it in the first place but now have no job so they really can't afford it and the economy in the area gets worse...but hey ,the company made a killin. for now, till the lagging economy and lowered sales here catches up to it |

I will say one other thing not quite related to the topic..but when it
comes to natural disasters anywhere on the planet, you guys are usually the 1st there to give aid to the populace, but when they happen on US soil, generally speaking you guys are left to deal with it yourself, with the little help that Canada can offer and I think that just sucks..the fact is the US does more positive for the world than any other country but at the same time I have to wonder how much of it is genuine and how much of it is self serving...I think on a gov't level it's more self serving but when it comes to the general population I do believe it's a genuine willingness to help out. |

i think if it were to happen it would probobly be because of a nother
world war and not a nuclear war because noone wins that one it will probobly come from the next kind of coldwar fought through economic means who knows maybe to get a world peace someone actually wins but it would be nice if it were done through a democratic republic like the u.s. but im not saying the u.s. all im saying is that so people could just stop caring about others religions or veiws on law were if the people demand change in leadership or law they can still get who knows maybe a society that thrives upon merit like everyones job is meaningful kinda like how it is in startrek i think that be pretty cool |

i wasn't talking about that type but i get where you are coming from
because that one is inevitable if you believe in GOD. the one i'm talking about is a popular idea among alot of politicians(the original bush) and a ton of others before him. it has a connection to the order of the masons and there are all sorts of conspiracy type theories that imply that the founding fathers were involved in a secret plan to unite the countries and that they would have the major influence over the reigning government. there are all sorts of things about secret codes being implanted into the designs on the dollar bill because of the eye and the pyramid and alot of people didn't think it had to do with the religion of christianity(alot of people thought of the masons as pagans and devil worshippers |
