i know who pavlow was. i just wasn't sure if he ever attempted e-shocks in his experiments. ;)

Interesting!
but now don't go telling me it's a German invention/experiment? Lol.
And, yes I believe as well that every cell works that way, we got cell memory too, which can cause all kinds of problems.
I suppose it's just finding out how to get the info transferred to the brain, and the right part of the brain at that, so it can be used.
Kind of freaky though, I know the human body is a very fine tuned 'machine', but this makes you realise just how much that is true! Like doing an update on a computer. Bit freaky.
Just think of the implications - good and bad - if they can actually make that kind of stuff work ...

actually it is an Austrian invention. The professor claims, that it is working, he said it takes a year, and then it will just be there, you will have the knowledge. Not sure how it works exactly, but it is literally learning a language while you are sleeping. you can already buy the machine, costs about 1000 euros.

you are totally right, it can have an amazing impact on our society and school systems.

Electro stimulation is old news and as for conditioning .. Even a rat can be trained if it is rewarded with cheese.

actually it is quite new, and to get results is kind of unbelievable.
as for a rat, they are very very intelligent. a little brain does not imply less intelligent. there are a couple of birds, who can recognize themselves in a mirror. not even all chimpanzees are able to do that.

Let me ask my maids if they know anyone / perhaps are interested.

loooool.

As you know there are multiple ways of learning. We could try to use conditioning. I am quite good in that sort of things. Everytime i come home, my dog is opening the door for me.
And there is a new experimental way of learning a language. You put electrodes on your skin, there is a a machine that somehow is getting information straight in your skin and jp your brain.
The theory behind it, is that every cell has a place to store information.
Given it is still in the beta phases, but seems to be legit.

nothing to do with you...

i was seeing a girl couple of years back, i dumped her pretty fast, turned out a she was in a psychiatric hospital after that and turned lesbian.

i keep telling myself: ''nothing to do with me'', too.

some things are not meant to be understood. sometimes,"ACCEPTING" is the best action that we must consider. maybe stuffs would not make sense today but someday it will. :) just believe in the word TRUST and FAITH :)

i couldn't disagree more.

Everything is meant to be understood. And everything is understandable.

'accepting' a status quo, that i don't feel comfortable with, is like giving up. having faith and trusting in an all mighty being? yeah you can do that. i bet some people waited their whole life, that god (i assume you are referring to her) takes all their responsibilities of their shoulders.

you should have trust and faith in your own abilities to shape your own world.

no offense meant!

... men have a bad hait of underestimating how intelligent women are... not sure why. the fact are that you brains are way more devolped than ours.

i don't think men are underestimating the intelligence of women. they are not estimating anything at all & who can blame them?
after all humans seem to be the only species on this planet to fight their nature. it is natural selection at its finest.

Well i figured, since we all live in different countries, why not showing off a little bit.

I live in Austria, and this is the normal view.

Specifically i live in Vienna, which is the Capitol of austria.
We have the most crazy people here, which makes is fun to live in vienna.
That is why i chose i picture, of a homeless man, demonstrating about society.
He was laughing his head off, and so did i.

make it funny. :) i know i have a sick humor. after showing this a good friend of mine, she said: ''only english boys and homeless people, are showing of their *** in public.'' and this is so true.

i hope the pictures work :)

but there we go separate ways, i believe that the brain itself, the organ, can be damaged by words. because the brain literally is millions and millions of neurones. and the mental state, is based on these neurons as is also your voice in your head. which most people call 'self'.
therefore..new thoughts must, new behavior, must be found by building new connections, since the brain is unable to regenerate neurons. the connections between neurons get stronger when you use it.

and now imagine a thought that is self distructive, but it stays in your mind, for a long long period of time.

think it through for yourself. it is just a hypothesis, and not proven what so ever.

That's what I was saying, somewhere in the middle of my reply. Guess you didn't understand it.

i apologize, i didn't read your respond twice. My head was already spinning with ideas after.the first couple of sentences.

the impact of words greater than the impact of actual behavior??

My opinion;
Impact of words is greater if you are using them via Telephone.
But this also shows your behavior.

So over all , why would you separate those two?
They go hand in hand together.

As of your soul question;
You do not heal a soul in active life duty.
(Broken soul is some old folklore saying)

Have fun at your Psi classes :)

i have done all my classes already. next year i will be giving a class.
please read the post i have written before, explaining what i do mean with soul.

why separate them? we try to understand the smallest piece of a puzzle and work from that point, to eventually solve all the pieces.
you are right though, behavior was the wrong word to use. :p

yesterday night, i went to a posh club, a lot of models, and a lot of older guys trying to impress those girls.

i saw some really disturbing things last night. a girl looking 16 to me, and a man who could have been her grandpa.

what really seemed to help them was one thing: money!

If you were a psychologist, you'd know that this is not true:
if somebody beats me up real bad, my body hurts but my emotions stay in tact.

As for the overweight girl, how do you think the bullying would take place?
You suggest it happens without words. Really?? As a psychologist, you ought to know how bullying works?

Recover from a broken soul? Never heard of anyone's soul breaking, not even sure that's possible. Sort of like asking "Can Source/God/Allah/All That Is die?"
Yes, the soul can get hurt, damaged, but to be honest I doubt whether serious damage to the soul is caused by anything in this physical life.

As for the question in the OP:
I go for words as well. Like Franky said: I love you can mean so much more than flowers.
The pen (word) is mightier than the sword.

finally somebody questioning.

first of all. it wasn't wrong, but wasn't right either.
On the emotional stability scale, i have a very high score. Therefore for me it was true. If you are emotional unstable, easy things can get to you. Some extreme example. Our both cats get run over, before our eyes. you probably would start crying, and your emotions would take over. As for me i wouldn't cry, nor would you see a lot of emotion, which doesn't mean i don't have them, it just means, i don't have them as forceful or strong than you have.

secondly bullying.

i thought i wrote, that the bad guy bullied the girl, with words, to make the point that even a total stranger can hurt you really bad, with just words.
and yes there are a lot of types of bullying. and not all of them as you might have suggested depend on verbal communication. :)

Third: the broken soul.

As for me i believe in the paradigm of cognitive neuroscience. Yes you are right, i do not believe in a soul, nor do i believe in god, i believe in nature.

I believe a that what we call soul, arises from millions of neurons sending information. don't hate me for it, i won't say anything about religion either. :)

Well, if u still follow, i just gave the 'soul' a physical organ, the brain.
and know the real question, i would like to answer.

can words, hurt the brain as much, as a punch can hurt the liver?

i put in words, that everyone understands, without explaining. but i was wondering when somebody would start question things. :)
