Mine is self built and programmed. 3 gig duo core, 3gigs of RAM, 2 DVD combo drives, 3 SATA hard drives, xp pro, plasmascreen (18"), saitek x52 FCS and gamers keyboard, wireless optical mouse, 11 in 1 card reader. Has a ATI 512 vid card with onboard RAM and an ASUS motherboard. Cost me about 350$ to build it myself...everything bought new.

It is not uncommon for registry enties to get corrupted or deleted even by accident. If system restore does not correct the problem, then the only recourse is a full format and re-install. Attempting to repair it probably will not owrk, as the registry values change as programs are added or removed.
Generally, XP has a stable registry, and some registry scanners and even Anti-virus programs, will see registry entries as an attack and either quarentine, 'clean', or delete them.

I did some research on the Magic Jack, and from what I have discovered, it is a great deal. When you buy it, you are purchasing your first years in the purchase price....that's pretty sweet. It does NOT cut you off from the internet while on the phone, which is a big plus in my book.
I has quite a few free features, call waiting, caller ID, unlimited local and LD. It can also be taken with you to a foriegn country and allows you to call the US for free. It can even be sent to someone overseas so they can call for free, and you can also call them for free.
Other than the fact that it has to plug into a USB 2.0 port and you need the internet for it to work, I haven't found many drawbacks, and the feedback is quite good.
I have invested in one, and it is an easy setup and easily transferred to whatever computer you want to plug it into.

Was gonna switch to Vongae because it's cheaper than my regular phone bill.....but I am not willing to put up with crappy service, or being cut off fromt he internet when my house phone rings.

As far a laptops, I have a Gateway T-series, two 2 gig processors and 3 gigs of RAM with Vista premium and auto-wireless detection. Little spendy, but well worth the money.

Has lots of other features as well, including the sidebar thingy and media center. But then I guess it would also be what you are looking for in a laptop.

downoad this free defragmenter and run it. It will allow you to deframent just the fragmented files or the whole computer. THis is the best defragmenting program out there...and it's 100% free.

I would also recomend Ad-Aware SE and spybot SD, both of which are also free. Run all of these programs to clean your system and you should be good to go.

Go here and download the CPUID program. It is very tiny, and when you run it, it will show you your processor, memory and mainboard.
If your memory is installed properly, it will allow you to view each slot and give you all of the pertinent information that you are looking for. I don't know how many slots your board has, but generally if you have four slots, theya re dual channel which means that the same types have to be in slots 1 and 2, and in 3 and 4 you may use different ones so long as they are both the same. If you have only three channels, chances are that you can mix and match. However, it is recomended that you use all the same type (ie speed and manufacturer0 to prevent any problems.

One should always remember that antivirus scan engines are not the same. If they were, Nortons, Microtrend, and other top brands wouldn't be charging a pretty penny for a scan engine you can download for free. No AV is infalible, and many of the virus we do get, are because we go to sites we shouldn't, or download quetionable certificates.
Most AVs will ask for you to participate in sending quarrentines items for supplemental break down. I recomend this, as most of the good AVs out there, share their databases with one another.
