For any of you who have met people off the internet, how long did you spend talking online and on the phone before meeting in person? When you met in person was it what you had expected or hoped for? I'd looove some opinions on the topic. I've met a number of people from online. Not always good but in general I think it is. I've waited as long as 7 months and as little as a couple days. Doesn't seem to matter how long you wait as to how you'll hit if off with them. But an online meeting IMO should include at least 2 or three phone calls. Sadly there are some people out there who take advantage of this medium and are not very honest about who they are. Usually a few phone calls will help weed out the really bad ones. i usually wait a 2-3 months if there not local. Sadly, most of the people i meet are not honest, even after talking on the phone for hours or days even months. Usually even with pictures the body type is misrepresented, like an average girl is about 70lbs over weight and has a beer belly, a few extra lbs is like 5'4 300lbs. There mental stability factor (decision making abilitys, anger issues, issues in general) are vastly differnt, and bleed into everyday life. Every so often you find one person who isn't a douche, and who represented themselfs fairly, or didnt show the other person all there good sides. Those people are why everyone still dates. There is just a smaller percentage then the others. |
