I think most long distance relationships are really just a delusion. Sure you may talk to someone and they might actually talk back but the reality that your lives are going to actually co-mingle and you share more than a filtered view of each other is pretty slim. Relationships take sharing space and living in the same general neighborhood and eventually home. If you are not sleeping together, breaking bread together, paying bills together, laughing and sometimes crying together it isn't a relationship. What it really is; is a pass time, and illusion of intimacy, and even a self deception because more often than not that is what it is all about; deluding yourself that you are not still living alone, not committed enough to be all the way in with another person, and the distance is just your safety zone. In most cases you put the two people together in a long distance thing it will desentagrates in a very short time. They are not in love with each other they are in love with the idea of love or having this contrived controlable scenario that has no real conflict or disruption of their life. |
