THE COLOR OF TEARS

In all of all the days, that we each have,
Emotions and Affairs of the Heart,
Just may .. play, the single most important part,

There is a time for joy, a time for fears,
A time for laughter, a time for tears.

Life is not just a task that we are given,
No...truly it is an art, one that is driven.

If emotions were on an artist’s palette,
And each paint stroke,

Revealed our lives, revealed our heart,
The most important color in all our years,

The most revealing....would be the Color of Tears.

A love so deep .. within all that is

Lives within our hearts and minds

A central theme .. a common root

Of various shapes and kinds


Blessed be the one who waits

For the other to complete their soul

Blessed be the common trust

Of lovers who pay the other's toll


Roses never grow alone

Thoughts and emotions never die

What we were and what we are

My .. oh my .. oh my.

My knee is not the only joint
below me that I have found
What rests in your hand is a little more exotic
And I believe .. it is going to stand it's ground.

My grin is but a mirror
To the smile upon your lips
As surely as your fingers glide across me
Mine are memorizing the outline of your hips.

I just wrote the first 4 lines to my new poem ..

YOUR KISS

Your kiss .. so soft and fluid
Lingers forever in my mind
Sensations and memories of you
So sweet, warm and kind

SKIN

Skin serves to complete our bodies
And yet it reminds us we still need to learn
It is not over when it is all over
And our ashes lie in some darkened urn

Soft winds move to rejoice us
And others that we meet upon the way
Each touch yearns to reward us
One more step towards yet another day

I felt you in your teachings
I craved for more and more
You did not kiss me upon leaving
You taught me, and now I must ask what for ?

I ache in secret places
I wander in the night
My desire has no ending
But I am not sorry for this fight

Some day my skin will lie in ruins
It has all happened this way before
And some day we may just meet again
Perhaps, in some celestial corner store

Moonbeams dance on water
You dance within my heart
Golden tressed and beautiful
I am the palette, you are the art

Roses grow on hillsides
They flourish in every shade of red
I am consumed yet born anew
Betrothed and then newly wed

Rivers rush toward the sea
Channels forged in earth
I love your humour and your laughter
I exult in our combined mirth

Memories of you fill my mind
Reflections of a cherished life
A reflecting pool of happiness
I cherished you as my wife.

Our souls seeking to ascend

Some lessons we understand easily
Others we may never fully understand at all
Some we anticipate with eagerness
Others we may seek to stall

We meet many students along this path
Toward wisdom and the light
We each journey toward fulfillment
Forever seeking a higher height

One lesson some learn easily
Others not at all
Is that if we choose to work together
It is less likely that any of us will fall.

VISION

Our eyes do more than adorn us
And illuminate all in our way
They serve as a guiding light to our children
Lest they go astray

They cry when they see loneliness
And weep into the night
They sparkle unto happiness
And reopen towards the light

They ask for nothing from us
And yet they whisper to our heart
We will see you at the ending
We were there right from the start

We helped you learn to walk
Our tears helped you learn to pray
God reached out to you without us
And held you on your way

A blind man sought your wisdom
To understand you and your art
To hold you and your beauty
And so you gave him his new start

Thanks LS .. I grew up with 3 older sisters. That perspective, combined with my own observation of male/female interaction in this world, prompted the thoughts in that poem. I admire women way more than most men.

PASSION

I asked God how may I find true love
He replied, my son first seek it in your heart
It must be there in your future
I know I put it there when I gave you your start

I sought but could not find it
And so I turned to God again
He shook his head quite sadly
And said I hope you will find it elsewhere then

You must have misplaced it in your travels
That took you so far upon My Earth
Perhaps you lost it among your sorrow
Perhaps you may yet find it somewhere close to mirth

You must seek it in the sunshine
You must seek it in the rain
It might be there next to loneliness
You might yet find it beside pain

But even though I looked and looked
It found it was not there, should I look again ?
He said you must look until you find it
If it is not a matter of if, but only a matter of when

Time went by, my life went by
Many people crossed my path
I asked each if they had found it
Many said yes, it was nowhere near to wrath

We found it in our children
We found it in husband and wife
We worked so hard but it was worth it
It rewarded us with new life

I sighed but was renewed in my search
I called on my memories to light my way
One memory stood above the rest
And in that memory I again heard God say

My son first seek it in your heart
It must be there in your future
I know I put it there when I gave you your start

And so I looked to my heart once more
And this time found my heart was filled
With the love I thought I must have lost
On some remote and lonely shore

I shouted to God, I found it just this very day !
He wisely nodded His head
Yes my son, it was always there
And as a reward you have also found passion along the way

Some of us cry in sunshine
Others laugh in rain
Some learn from loneliness
Others forget in pain

Snowdrifts separate many
Sand dunes but a few
We learn from our forebears
And yet how many really do ?

Life envelops you like a wind
It will carry you on your way
Some live for just one more night
Others for a brand new day

PEBBLES

I did not know you when you were young
I hope to know you when I am old
Life collected us like pebbles
Your pebble has turned to gold

I hear you from a distance
I can't hold you and yet I try
The feeling that I felt that day
Will never, ever die

I can't know all of your thoughts
I guess I never will
The ones I know still bind me
Like varnish to a window sill

Windows give us outward vision
They transfer in the light
And yet I exist in loneliness
Forever deprived of your sight

SEEDS OF BITTERNESS

One more liar lives inside you now
I think at least one always did
What has become of your legacy ?
The one from which you hid

I sat beside it in preschool
I wondered at the start
Crayolas and razor blades
Soon became her art

She left all of her classmates, all of us behind
She had it all but was bereft of each and every kind
No emotion, no display, she walked on down that hall
An old woman in the springtime, a frost figure in the fall

Her father taught her nothing
Her mother was torn apart
She felt she had gained everything
But soon lost it all, especially her heart

The apple never met it's tree
We all know it never will
A fruit once borne in agony
That only learned to kill

You kissed me once, I kissed you twice
We will never kiss again
Unless we kiss through bitterness
The apple and it's stem
