If a black cat crosses your path, it's bad luck.

If your palm itches, it means you will be getting money.

If your ears are ringing, someone is talking or thinking about you.

Those are just a few off the top of my head. bigsmile
And no, I don't believe in them. laugh

Wow!!!! I must be famous. I suffer from Tinnitus so my ears ring all the time 24/7. Please write and tell me what you are saying about me.

Common one...Don't walk under a ladder

What are some other ones you have, or have heard about as there are some crazy ones out there.

When on board my first ship in the Navy I was under a ladder and a 5 gallon paint can fell on my head. That explains a lot about me. Still have the scar from the 7 stitches it took to close up the leak. Not quick enough though, since a lot leaked out.

If you look back far enough, I imagine ALL our ancestors came from Europe.

Tell that to Native Americans, Australian aborigines and natives of Africa and Asia. tongue2

I saw a piece on National Geographic where an archaeologist found artifacts dating back before the "Native Americans) showed up and they were from Northern Europe around France. His speculation is that these people came across the ice bridge and settled and then the Mongols came along ad wiped them out. Saying this hypothesis is true then I am a Native American because some of my ancestry goes back to that region of France.

of course anyone born here is a "Native". Other than the Middle East there are probably not more than a handful of folks living anywhere else that can say they are Native. We all came from somewhere else way way back.

I read a news article yesterday about a mother who has been charged with accessory to the murder of her young daughter. There were no name listed but, it seems that "mom" posted on a different site and solicited men to come have sex with her daughter (about 12 years old). The girl would up dead and dismembered. The investigation is ongoing to try and identify who all the men were that participated in this horror. I don't know (or care) where anyone stands on the death penalty but prison is a waste of tax money for trash. Be careful of the personal info you put out there in cyber space. I don't think this scenario could have been avoid unless one of the men who didn't "participate" had turned her in. "All it takes for evil to flourish is for good men to do nothing." Edmund Burke

Is it me or do the numbers in PI never repeat a sequence of more than 2?

That seems to be a recurring problem. If you put your spouse first and then your children and then the inlaws (or outlaws) it can last. There are many other factors but I think the root is a turn on the phrase "Do unto others...." If you want to be numero uno then treat your spouse as numero uno. If I believed in something other than what I do I would probably say it is Karma.

OK, I am just looking at the dating pool. My profile is perhaps rather negative, in that I am NOT looking to 'hookup' - just viewing the pool candidates..
The comments of emails I receive, it is pretty obvious to me that my profile is NOT being read at all, as the comments in their emails reference what a nice profile it is, etc... are you kidding me?did you read it???
Or are they just MANREADING it?
Manreading - look at the pictures and carry on anyway..
Hints about scammers would be appreciated..
Kat

You will get better with spotting scammers as you go along. Language is a big give away. If they "want to know you more", ask more questions than they give information, want you to believe they are up in the middle of the night emailing you, or immediately ask you to go to another free site, giving or begging for a phone number right off the bat, tell you they are a widowed engineer with a kid you can bet they are bogus.

There are always going to be the guys on line that hope you are going to be the cyber version of the girl in the bar or hope to sex talk for free. Report, block, and move on without taking it personal. NEVER; EVER, give someone your home number or where you work. There are criminals on line. And they can charm the whiskers off a cat.

Legit guys are going to try and ask questions and probably want to see a recent full length photo but they don't usually give you a psychological profile or some flowery description of their sudden infatuation. Almost all men will tell you that you are beautiful sooner or later; maybe it is a safe answer or genuine but hey beats the alternative. And legit guys do not care if you are "perfect". Most are going to be as afraid of you being a scammer or blabbing their personal stuff as you are of them. Most are sensitive about someone trying to play them for money so be sympathetic about work (but wait for them to offer specifics) and those women that play head games. A lot of the best guys are parents, and good ones, but they will be pretty tight lipped about it for at least a while. Legit guys do read what is posted so if you are constantly breaking balls and whining they would rather deal with someone with less "bad attitude". A lot of decent guys do live with extended family during post divorce periods, especially if they have kids, because two families can not live as cheaply as one and they have out grown the "party animal" stage. There are a lot of great guys on Mingle on and off the forums. Good luck.

Not all the scammers are men. I have had matches from 39 year old women from Kenya, yeah right. I have grandchildren almost that old. Obviously the "not" reading of profiles is not gender specific. I read every profile of a picture that piques my interest. Let's face it the first contact is visual, if there s a phony smile (not to the eyes) or scowl or the pouty lips I go no further. Who in the world told women that the pouty lip pose was appealing to men. I look at eyes first and then the rest (well always the rest) I am a man and we are visually stimulated. Smile mile and then smile again. It can be a quirky smile or a funny smile or an enticing smile. Notice the common theme here? SMILE.

I found the easiest way to get your neighbors to pay for that privacy fence you've been wanting is to do yoga naked in your backyard.

I tried that... Didn't work for me. All she did was get all the other 90 year old women to do naked yoga in her back yard...

noway noway noway noway

I hate stupid. Ignorance is fine since we all are ignorant (even Hillary). We are born ignorant and over time some of that ignorance is learned away. Stupid on the other hand is a practiced trait developed over years of practice and honed to perfection. These are the people who become call center drones reading from a script and not hearing or reading a bloody thing you say or write. They are mid-level bureaucrats who try to laud their "POWER" over you by act of Congress the center of stupidity.

Ignorance and stupidity are one in the same. In either situation you didnt take the time to learn or you just didn't care.

What do you know of Quantum Physics? Probably nothing (me neither) Einstein was ignorant of many things. Mark Twain was brilliant but I bet he didn't know how to operate on a brain. Stupid is when someone with 100 items in their cart gets in the express lane, stupid is when some one is texting while driving. Like the song from South Pacific with a slight twist "You Have to be Taught to be stupid." Unfortunately it is a subject that is mostly self taught.

I hate it when I am taken for granted :(

I understand but, in a strange way it is a compliment. You are taken for granted because you are trustworthy and competent. Being taken for granted is an earned position.

Yes it is free to sign up and to look through hundreds of pictures from arond the globe and ages from 30 on up. If someone clicks on meet in order to see who did that you have to pay money. If someone matches with you you again have to pay to see who matched. So, correct me if I'm wrong, the only hing that is free is to slog through a thousand pictures.

What is with this site? I specify and age range of 55+ and within a reasonable distance of Lake Chapala. I get selections from Tijuana, Oaxaca, CanCun and Men posing as women. The beards give them away. I get ages as young as 29, come on folks I have a grandson that is just slightly younger than that.

I know I am not Brad Pitt. Maybe his dad. I get requests from 30 somethings from thousands of miles away. I have grandchildren almost that age. I always think "SCAM". Unfortunately most of the women I have met my age seem so much older. I want someone to be my equal and be able to keep up or push me. (not in a wheelchair)
