What does this term actually mean and do women actually act upon it? I've asked because though used often, reading through profiles most women are after serious relationships; this tag suggests otherwise.

There are cases where women use denial of intimacy to get their way, as punishment or think that they're teaching their partner "a lesson in one-upmanship," until they get their own way. This is in itself, cheating on a relationship and putting it under undue strain.
