Cost of Olympic venues will be kept within $1.8b! Thats just the Cost to China. The income generated from Advertising alone is 5 billion US. Then you have the local economy, hotels, restaurants, transportation, etc.! Where in a communist society do you see the Chinese gov only benefiting a few million?? The Olympics is about World unity and brother ship! 5 Rings bound to each other. Tibet was a peaceful community. They deserved none of what the Chinese have done to them! Some things are worth taking a stand for! As a great man once said, "If a man hasn't discovered something that he will die for, he isn't fit to live." - Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. All these protesters are asking is dont hold the Olympics in China! Their actions show they aren't worthy!! First, things just like all the advertising money does NOT go to China's government. Yes, many businesses benfit from these things..they always do. 5 BILLION?? Not in China itself. Maybe world-wide revenue, that can happen. Now can we get some priorities straight here!!!???? You want to put energy into a boycot on the Olympics. OK, which is MORE IMPORTANT, boycotting the Olympics, or getting US troops home safe and NOT sacrificing US lives for OIL!!???? What about in Africa where the genicide has been going on for more than 5 years now and over 650,000 people MURDERED IN COLD BLOOD has been happening!!??? And the LIST GOES ON AND ON! And you want to put energy into boycotting something that will do absolutely NOTHING to change the Chinese government!!??? The same place that just bailed out US banks and holds the mortages of millions of US properties in thier hands??? Well, if that's the way you want prioritize things, that's up to you. I'm just letting you know there are much deeper and more critical causes in this world to take care of than something like boycotting some games. The weapons of mass DISTRACTION...thats why nothing ever gets resolved or fixed..they keep destracting you with all the bs .. and the worst part is, people keep falling for it. |

My House is Paid for thank you! That's WONDERFUL! But think of the MILLIONS of Americans who's house is mortgaged by China and those already being foreclosed on. Very simple point to make here. If you are going to use energy to change something...anything...use that time and effort EFFICIENTLY where is has the most chance of actually making a difference. Boycotting the Olympics basically does nothing. |

How Much Money is the Chinese govt. Going to Make off the Olympics? if The Us and Other Major Nations Boycott China (govt.) will Lose out Big time! as Far as the small Businesses go, Not Our Problem! The Chinese government really does not loose much, again into only the millions of dollars. And I guess you forget to figure in the recent HOUSING BAILOUT right here in the USA??? Did you forget or not know most of that bailout was done by CHINA!!!???? And that in many respects places China as legal title holder on tons of American properties!!??? So we boycot thier Olympics...watch out, they may be holding title to your house! |

If we do that...than we won't be able to do anything cause EVERYTHING is made in china O_o Exactly the point. We have enough to survive a while. And talk about leverage, then you make a statement. |

I Agree! it's Because of the Chinese Govt. that We and All Civilized Countries Need to Boycott the Olympics this Year! OK, then lets weigh the good vs the bad here. You boycot the Olympics there and it hurts all the small business people that stand to make a few dollars, you crush the dreams and hopes of good atheletes that have no political agenda. What does it do to the Chinese government, absolutely NOTHING, because simply they don't care about anything but thier own power. They starve thier people and most people in China have little or nothing anyway. So when you put this on the scale, which does more for good? I don't see a boycot of the Olympics as any type of statement to make the Chinese government do anything. Now, boycot China made products...THEN you can get some leverage. :) |

"Why not get America out of the United nations??? Much more of a good idea." I like that Idea! I also Believe the United States and All Civilized Countries Should Boycott the Chinese Olympics AND the IOC Should Be Ashamed of themselves for Rewarding ass Holes Like China with an Olympic Games! JMO. Well I certainly agree with most of that. But again, it's NOT the Chinese PEOPLE who are doing the bad stuff..its the GOVERNMENT. Just like here in the USA, want people to think we all are like George Bush? Then most people around the world would think the average American has an IQ around 60 ;-P If people want to do something then change the GOVERNMENTS, because most poeple are good to each other. JMO |

Tibet demonstrators caused the French to extinguish the torch 5 times today. The French were forced to cancel the last 1/3 of the torch relay, and finish it in a bus! Tomorrow, it comes to SF!!! What do you think? Should the US boycot the Olympics? BOYCOT! The Olympics brings a lot of cash to the host country, dragoness!! You are only talking into millions of dollars..on a global scale that's like whizzing on a forest fire. Then you also deny those Americans that have, with some, trained all thier lives for this one time. you want them to miss thier peak? Miss thier life long dreams .. for what, a political statement that means basically nothing? |

No, I think American's should boycott the American government. In most places I have traveled in this world, the people are good and decent. It is the governments and the greedy in power that wage the wars and cause the strife.
Boycotting the Olympics shows little. Why not get America out of the United nations??? Much more of a good idea. |

Thanks Az! Thats gives me some great ideas now! Will be coming in from the western side, then prolly hit south for the first week or two, then up north. Love waterfalls and can get some great pics and video and can head to Northern Montana from there.
Any ideas going up to northern Montana? Will be going up to Browning, which is on east side of Glacier from what I understand..its up toward the Canadian border a bit. Thanks again for the info and direction! |

Well would be judging a person on qualities be a bad quality? Ummm, whats the definition of "quality"???? Quality is something you have engrained in your mind. How you percieve the world and the actions that surround it. I made that up. Yeh, well to me, and just IMO, "quality" refers to something always positive...you want "quality" this or that..its going to be "nice". So I just don;t see it in its true definition as being used with "negative" is all. Traits however can go both ways for sure. Or refering to "qualities" in a person..would think that means those things that make them on the good side. |

Smoking v. Non-smoking
|
|
I'm a smoker and I'm getting a bit tired of the self-righteous attitude of non-smokers. If you don't want to be around cigarette smoke than don't. Last I checked, it's still LEGAL. Been on both sides of that fence. Smoked for YEARS, finally quit over 2 years ago. Does not bother me to be around it at times, but can say, it does smell bad and its also not good for you. Not judging anyone, just telling you why some people would not want to be around it. Try being a non smoker and kiss a smoker...tastes like an ashtray in most respects I would guess. Again, not saying anything bad about you, just saying smoking does have some bad down sides and really no upside. |

Hmmm..can you actually put "negative" with "qualities"?
Definitely negative traits and positive traits...but not sure it would be correct to say "qualities"..but not sure. |
