Thanks. I do say no, obviously, but my question to OPU is why are they the ONLY ones I'm getting?

I got the usual email saying someone was interested in me, but I hadn't rated them yet. I went to do the usual sifting through the usual long line of profiles to hopefully choose someone who had chosen me...and every single one of them were looking only for an "Intimate Encounter", and nothing else.

"Intimate Encounter" is NOT on my advanced search criteria list (which, BTW, is not all that narrow, except for smoking and children). I am looking for more than that. Why are these all I'm receiving in my potential mutual matches? huh

"Sorry, I've been here 16 months, I almost always use a regular pic, and I'm a forum moderator on top of it. Plus I just had a book published. None of it means a damn thing to the locals here, though...."

As long as it means something to you, it shouldn't matter what the locals think. I'm published too but that shouldn't be a reason for someone to want to know me.

You rock, Lex, and you know it.

Thanks to all who were able to leave grown-up, intelligent, and polite responses supporting the team of their choice (if any).

Except for babyboi, that leaves out the White Sox fans. No surprise, there. laugh

my daughter had one of those silly lil dolls that would laugh. Well it would go off in her toybox at night and scare the hell outta me..Well the one night after the 2nd or 3rd time I decided enough was enough. Went to take the batteries out... No batteries... Needless to say.. lil miss dolly went out on the front lawn till garbage day! I still have no clue how it still worked... huh

Smilingeyes, that sounds like the classic Twilight Zone episode, "Talky Tina"...(theme plays in the background...)

I can tackle anything thrown at me, and I've proven that for the last two decades. Except one...

I can spot a spider in a ceiling corner from across an ampitheater, because I know it's coming for ME. noway

How about you?

That spider you're so afraid of doesn't want anything to do with you. Look at it from his perspective. Animals don't attact maliciously. They attact for food, out of fear for themselves or their young, or to protect their territory. In the US, the only two poisonout spiders are the black widow and the brown recluse, and their bite is rarely fatal for a healthy adult.

I do understand all of that, my friend. But I'm still afraid of them. That's why it's called a 'phobia'.

Jenleah, I am so with you on the 'spiders' part! OMG!

"I have been there and done this way too many times to even think about counting them. It does work occasionally with a little bit of effort. I am who I am and will always be."

But are you laid back, that's the issue here....

There's that "laid back" phrase again. I'm beginning to understand.

"Hello, A friend told me about this site, so I thought I would check it out. I know my profile isn't that long, maybe if I find this site interesting I will add more to it."

Please don't toy with us this way.

Oh, how I feel this one. It's right up there with "I'll fill this in later." And weeks down the road, nothing's changed. explode laugh

grumble

It's so frustrating to see that on a profile...

And I know sometimes a person doesn't have time at the exact moment they're joining, but how much later is "later"??? Weeks? Months?

Is there a smiley for 'heavy sigh'?...

I always think "Ok, then, I'll READ it later, maybe" but I never do. I have a whole cosmos of other bad profiles to read; who can possibly read them all? There's not enough Excedrin in the universe to alleviate the kind of headache THAT causes!

Another valuable response. Thanks. Please pass me an Advil.

It's frustrating when they never do finish it after weeks, but they still show up as a match! frown

I SO agree!

irad8you...uk1971... laugh

Very funny, and very sad. I rest my case.

Began communication with a local guy...made a date for lunch...found out he was married and lying on his profile (no photo, btw)...told him to take a hike. explode

Other than that, no, but have met some really nice people in my state's forum group. We are kicking around the idea of a get-together this summer. drinker happy
