Here is a good article with lots of biblical verses backing up "no eternal hell"
No consciousness, heaven, or hell, in death! You live or else you die. There is no in-between. See here: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life.” So perish is the opposite of life, meaning to die, not be suffering somewhere.....and life is life! Jesus himself draws the distinction. John 5:28-29. The dead wait in their graves for the resurrection The following verses prove there is no “soul” apart from the body: Gen 2:7 (KJV) “When God breathed into Adam, Adam became a living soul” Body plus Breath equals "soul." (A living person.) The words "soul" and "spirit" are used in the Bible, but never given any "life" when separated from the body. [PSA 146:4] When a man dies: "his breath goeth forth, he returneth to earth; in that very day his thoughts perish." Ecclesiastes 9:5-6,10 "the living know that they shall die, but the dead know not anything." For now shall I sleep in the dust, and thou shalt seek me in the morning, but I shall not be." [ JOB 7:21 ] "Man dieth... and where is he? So man lieth down, and riseth not: till the heavens be no more, they shall not awake, nor be raised out of their sleep." [ JOB 14:10,12 ] "...Lest I sleep the sleep of death." [ PSA 13:3 ] They stoned Stephen... and…. he fell asleep." [ ACTS 7:59-60 ] And the Lord said unto Moses, behold, thou shalt sleep with thy fathers." [ DEUT 31:16 ] And all these call death a sleep: 1 KINGS 2:10; 11:21; 11:43; 14:20; 14:31; 15:8; 15:24; 16:6; 16:28; 22:40; 22:50 2 KINGS 8:24; 10:35; 13:9; 13:13; 14:16; 14:22; 14:29; 15:7; 15:22; 15:38; 16:20; 20:21; 21:18; 24:6 2 CHRON 9:31; 12:16; 14:1; 16:13; 21:1; 26:2; 26:23; 27:9; 28:27; 32:33 ACTS 13:36 1 COR 15:6; 18, 20 2 PETER 3:4 In John 11 Jesus raises Lazarus from the dead. Jesus said, "Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep." The disciples MISUNDERSTOOD him, so Jesus CLARIFIED: "Lazarus is dead." [ JOHN 11:11-14 ] Also: when Lazarus came out of the grave, if he had been called back from heaven, don't you think he would've said something about it? But Lazarus said "nothing." And he certainly would have had lots to say to everyone if he'd been called out of hell. It's so simple: Lazarus said nothing because he knew nothing -- not a single thing. For four days Lazarus had truely been "asleep in the grave." Jesus knew what the Old Testament said about those in the grave... "There is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest." [ECC 9:10] Here's another important text. "The dead praise not the Lord, neither any that go down into silence." [PSA 115:17] If people went straight to heaven at their death, they would be praising the Lord. But the dead rest in the silence of sleep, and they don't awake until the resurrection. "For the grave cannot praise thee, death can not celebrate thee: they that go down into the pit cannot hope for thy truth." [ISA 38:18; PSA 88:10-12] Even David waits in his grave. "He is both dead and buried, and his sepulcher is with us unto this day... for David is not ascended into the heavens." [ACTS 2:29, 34] Why? Because he awaits his resurrection. Hell is not what people think either. It is a study on its own. In a nutshell: It refers to the grave. See online studies about hell and the grave - they are everywhere! The wicked stay forever in the grave. No resurrection. There is a major burning called hell fire …… when the earth is destroyed (in revelation.) But Isaiah 47:14 says the wicked burn like stubble in it…. which is the fastest fire there is. And then Mal. 4:1-3 says the saved people walk upon their ashes! So that means they physically burnt up! And that the fire has gone out! Amen to that! Certain parables appear to be referring to hell as a place of torment but they can be easily understood as metaphors if you study them in their proper language and contexts. Look on the Internet to understand them as knowledge is now increasing rapidly, just as Daniel 12:4 said would happen right before the end! |

Cowboy you are on the right track....Several churches understand that hell is the grave.
They can prove in the bible that the dead sleep (ecclesiastes) and "know nothing" and until Jesus returns to wake the righteous. At that point they go to heaven. The widcked dead stay asleep. There is a fire after, that destroys the earth once Gods people are safely removed. It burns "forever" as in "I waited in line forever" type of hebrew. It is a fire to cleanse the earth from all its pollution, and allow a new eden to grow. This is what the righteous will return to. Isaiah implies strongly this fire goes out, as he says the righteous return to a paradise earth and walk upon the ashes of the wicked. Thus the wicked dead are burned up forever....not burned forever. there is a difference! It was the pagan influence in the catholic church which took over the church in the middle ages and brought in the teaching of an everlasting fire. There are prophecies of the antichrist in Dan 2 and 7 which match the beast of rev 13. I dont have time to tell you of them now. but take a look for some interesting comparisons of the beasts here and you will see some stuff forming. Keep inmind these beasts are superpower nations, which began with babylon and end with the antichrist power. these prophecies also lay out the future which history has accurately followed right to this moment we are in and going beyond. |
