Sweat drips down my face, enters my eyes, and stings

The hottest day of the year and I’m cleaning horse stalls of all things

20 stalls done, 10 more to go

I love my work but today I groan

To overheated to fret about modesty

I’m stripped to a sports bra, for all the world to see

I feel about as appealing as a rabid skunk

The sun beats down, boiling my blood

But if I stop now, I’ll never get started again

No use complaining, just get the job done

Someone’s gotta do it rain or shine

Ahhhh, rain. Wouldn’t that be divine?

No matter, keep going, don’t you dare quit

Finally finished, can stop for a bit

Sweaty and cranky, I feel about to collapse

More to do later so I can’t sit long on my ass

But I’ll have a small rest, then see the day through

Wish for a pop but guess the hose will do

Well water it is, too hot to be picky

Especially with the air this heavy and sticky

I round the corner and think I’ve got heat stoke

For there in the shade stands my bloke

Next to a cooler filled with ice, fruit, and pop

He says: “I thought you’d like a drink its so hot.”

“Come here my girl, and take a rest”

This is the kind of surprise I’d like the best
