I thought this would be the start of a good discusion.

I worked my ass off while I was there. There's a group that can just greet him? I kind of take it as a slap in the face. I think he is right to ignore them. You stop, you are easier to hit. The more grouped to gether you are; the more likely you are to get hit. The longer a high profile target is standing around; the more likely there will be and attemp. Knowing this and considering the eviroment. Would you go out of your way to meet anyone.

I'm sorry if that sounds harsh. It's just that I was there. It kind of pisses me off that there is a soldier, let alone a group of soldiers, who would go to greet a politition. Not because it's him or anything; I wouldn't go to see McCain either.

Those soldiers shouldn't have been there to greet him. This is not a meet and greet type of situation. Why would they be there?

I think religion is a means to control the masses. Do it or die; that's how it's been pushed in the past. When the truth is there is no answer, but if you find that out you won't listen, follow, and obey the commands of the one preaching. Remember, rulers used to claim diety.

Thinking of the sun and how some stories seem to cooralate Jesus with it, perhaps the answer to your daughters question is that the universe is God. We are all subject to it and we can't change it. So God would not be a he or she, and there for have no will. It is never vengeful or merciful, these are qualities of man. God just is, and is because we are here to observe it. Perhaps to worship God is not the correct way to go about things. Maybe we should just appreciate what it provides for us more.

I wouldn't go that far, but there is no doubt in my mind that the current president could use a few as advisors. He's already proven he'll listen to anybody.

I told you the right answer. People need to answer that question for themselves. To steer a belief in someone, especially a child, is not a good thing to do. Especially with children, it can have repocussions. Tell her the truth, you have been so far.

It is not bad to not know. That should be the lesson. Be humble, when a person doesn't they should say so, or run the risk of lieing. That would be bad for a person's relations.

I think it comes down to what type of person you would like your daughter to be. One with an inquisative mind, or one who blindly accepts. I for one will never stop asking why?.
