Hello everyone,
As you know I am not a very political person. I just wanted to pass along that Senator Obama came to Bagram, Afghanistan for about an hour on his visit to "The War Zone. I want to share with you what happened.

He got off the plane and got into a bullet proof vehicle, got to the area to meet with the Major General (2 Star) who is the commander here at
Bagram. As Soldiers lined up to shake his hand he blew them off and didn't say a word as he went into the conference room to meet the General. As he finished, the vehicles took him to the ClamShell (pretty much a big top tent that military personnel can play basketball or work out in with weights) so he could take his publicity pictures playing basketball. He again shunned the opportunity to talk to Soldiers to thank them for their service.

So really he was just here to make a showing for the American's back home that he is their candidate for President. I think that if you are going to make an effort to come all the way over here you would thank those that are providing the freedom that they are providing for you. I swear we got more thanks from the NBA Basketball Players or the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders than from one of the Senators, who wants to be the President of the United States.

I just don't understand how anyone would want him to be our Commander-and-Chief. It was almost that he was scared to be around those that provide the freedom for him and our great country. If this is blunt and to the point I am sorry, but I wanted you all to know what kind of caliber of person he really is. What you see in the news is all fake.

In service,
TF Wasatch
American Soldier

Funny, they had a tape on the news showing him talking to them while they stood in formation. Even relating on a personal basis to one soldier from Kansas!

They also showed another tape of soldiers cheering him in Kuwait and looking plum giddy at getting the chance to meet him!

Id say this letter is another Republican false blog!
Id just about bet on it!!
Where's your source?

Those soldiers shouldn't have been there to greet him. This is not a meet and greet type of situation. Why would they be there?

I'm sorry if that sounds harsh. It's just that I was there. It kind of pisses me off that there is a soldier, let alone a group of soldiers, who would go to greet a politition. Not because it's him or anything; I wouldn't go to see McCain either.

And what you see on TV is often staged for the network. Remember how Obama's campaign managed to dredge up the fact that Hillary was in no real danger 10 or so years ago when she was in Yugoslavia; her trip there was staged. So now Obama does the same thing. Get it.

I worked my ass off while I was there. There's a group that can just greet him? I kind of take it as a slap in the face. I think he is right to ignore them. You stop, you are easier to hit. The more grouped to gether you are; the more likely you are to get hit. The longer a high profile target is standing around; the more likely there will be and attemp. Knowing this and considering the eviroment. Would you go out of your way to meet anyone.

There's more wait,

Earlier in the day during breakfast with soldiers at Camp Eggers, a heavily fortified military base in the city, Obama praised the U.S. troops.

“To see young people like this who are doing such excellent work, with so much dedication ... it makes you feel good about the country,” Obama said.

“I want to make sure that everybody back home understands how much pride people take in their work here and how much sacrifice people are making. It is outstanding,” he said in video footage from the military obtained by The Associated Press.

Lt. Col. Dave Johnson, a U.S. military spokesman, said Obama and other visiting senators met with many soldiers and sailors from their respective constituencies.

“The food was great, but the company was better,” Johnson said.

I was never endorsing him; I don't think. What I'm saying is there were groups of soldiers gathered 'round for no apparent reason. Come on.

At the bottom of that e-mail is a partial disclaimer.

[Note: There are some that are disputing the validity of this email. I am reasonably certain that it is legit. Further, while I have seen a few photos of Senator Obama visiting with troops at Camp Eggers in Kabul, I have not seen any DoD photos of the Senator at Bagram (with troops).]

Then another poster,

Update: Below is a report from the PAO in Camp Eggers, Afghanistan, about the visit of Senator Barak Obama.

US Army Central Command Photo of Senator Obama meeting with troops at Camp Eggers, Afghanistan.

KABUL, Afghanistan – Camp Eggers service members enjoyed breakfast with a Congressional delegation including Senators Barack Obama, D-Ill., Jack Reed, D-R.I. and Chuck Hagel, R-Neb. during their visit, July 20, to Combined Security Transition Command-Afghanistan headquarters.

The visit was part of the delegation’s trip to American forces commands in central and eastern Afghanistan. In Kabul the delegation was briefed by Gen. David McKiernan, International Security Assistance Force commanding general, and Gen. Maj. Gen. Robert Cone, CSTC-A commanding general.

Throughout their stops at Bagram and Jalalabad Air Fields and in Kabul, the senators met with service members from their respective states.

Then you have this chit,

Rice told embassies to limit aid for Obama, McCain

On the eve of Democrat Barack Obama's overseas tour, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice told employees at U.S. embassies to provide only minimal help to visiting presidential candidates.

The orders went to all overseas posts and told government employees not to do anything that might show favoritism or amount to improper campaign activity. A spokesman said the State Department issued similar orders ahead of presumed Republican nominee John McCain's similar overseas tour four months ago, but limited the communication to embassies in countries the Republican planned to visit.

Obama traveled to Afghanistan and Iraq in his capacity as a member of Congress and was joined by Sens. Chuck Hagel, R-Neb., and Jack Reed, D-R.I. Like his Afghanistan stop, his visit to Iraq had heavy security and limited media access. Visiting U.S. officials and lawmakers often invite reporters to cover their visits and some hold news conferences with leaders in Baghdad, but Obama has been shielded from the media.

Hmmm!!!

http://www.kansascity.com/445/story/713790.html

Seems to me I remember seeing McConfused every day with the press following him everywhere he walked around the green-Zone when he was in Iraq tooting Bush's horn.

This was just convenient for Rice to add his name at the end of the statement. Since hes not going to go back before Nov it doesn't affect him at all.

It also came one day after Maliki agreed with Obama's troop pull out plans!
