what makes you think girls need to be taught? I know more about football (AND hockey AND baseball) than most guys.. obviously sports are huge around here.. haha. ;) Everyone gets taught (male or female) ... it's a long slow process ... some are self-taught by watching, listening, or even playing. We learn from broadcasters, fans, friends, reading, etc. My question was really directed at girls that don't or haven't learned about football yet. If you are already knowledgeable, then that's a plus in many guys minds (not all, but many). I just think it's cool if a girl is interested (or at least willing to learn). |

DaRn ... this post made me hungry!!!
Try: Baking shaved or thinly sliced ham, turkey, other coldcuts and your choice of cheese on a fresh french bread (small or large loafs) wrapped in foil baked at 300 ... when it's ready ... add shredded lettuce, tomato, onion, or any other garnish. I like them with Pringles ... but just about any chip will work. Don't forget the dill slices and/or dips!!! YUMMY!!! |

I LOVE FOOTBALL!!! GO COWBOYS!! HOOK 'EM HORNS!!! I did, however, ask my ex-husband to teach me to play Madden! Heck, I figured since i was dishin out $60 ever year for a game, i might as well know how to play it...its still chinese to me! Great comments!!! I finally started playing Madden this year ... guess I'm a late bloomer!!! It's been out for years. I like it because it's a two (or more) player game ... you can play with or against your friends. |

i WATCH.. i JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND SOME OF iT.. Hey, that's all of us!!! :) The game has gotten more complicated with all of the rules in the past few years. Every year they have a competition committee that looks at making changes to improve the game and to increase safety concerns. If you can think of a question, I would be happy to explain or answer ... if I know ... if I don't, others may pitch in and help out! :) |

I learned as I played when I was younger....LOL Watch baseball,nascar also.....LOL Grew up a tomboy so love them all.....LOL That's the absolute BEST way to learn about football ... by playing it!!! :) |

and Yes of course more women may enjoy football or any sport if they understood it more. The question you should be asking yourself is are you with a woman that is INTERESTED in learning about football or something that you are really into? Women, and men as well, will usually get more involved in something they have a better understanding of, the real question is if they WANT to be interested in it. If it's so important to you to find someone that is interested in it, than you should ask that question up front. That's true ... has to be some "interest" in learning anything that is fun to your significant other. Personally, I can live without it ... or tape the game for later. I do enjoy watching but its something thats even more fun if it's shared. I've had both kinds of relationships ... works either way for me. I just think it's a bonus because it's another way to spend time together. |

I watch football already! Why do so many guys think that NO women enjoy watching sports?? Maybe if a guy took some time to do what a woman enjoyed, she would be more inclined to do things he enjoyed... A lot of women enjoy sports ... I realize that. I was curious if a women (that didn't enjoy it) would be open to learning it IF it was explained better. Again, YES a guy should take time to do things a woman enjoys too! That's fair and reasonable. perhaps some women would enjoy football more if they understood it better. but not all of them. i dont understand anything about hockey, other than how to score, but i still watch it Good point!!! |

I enjoy it and try to make time for it. And YES, the action should be returned. Give and take ... right??? Give and take? What? You mean....you aren't suggesting that it's not all about me, are you? I thought it was boring as a little kid, but my dad got me into it by teaching me about it and his love for his team...so I think most girls would get into more if they knew what was going on, but I mean, come on...how many of us went to school and had to take P.E.? Everyone knows the basics of football, some girls will just never like it. Excellent points!!! I just thought it was a way a guy could share something he enjoys with his girl. Maybe give them one more thing to do together or to have in common. Doesn't take much effort to explain the interworkings of the game. Have you ever attended a professional football (or college) game??? I've been to both. Go Chicago Bears - go Wisconsin Badgers. Those are the only two teams that are any good. Don't fight with me on that. I love it ... spoken like a "true" fan!!! Not a Green Bay Packer fan??? Bears/Packers are one of the oldest rivalry's in pro football!!! |

I don't need a man to teach me anything, i just LOVE football. Except for the whole "safety" thing...i'm a little fuzzy on that.... No, you don't need a man to teach you anything ... didn't mean for the question to be taken that way. When you first began watching football ... who did you watch with??? What draws you to the game??? ahhh...it was my dad. superbowl 30 steelers/cowboys and i was six. at least thats the first game i remember watching How COOL ... that was one of my favorite games and favorite football memories. I watch football with my daughters ... I think they get "into it" because I do, and because I always explain what's happening. It's something that we can do together ... and talk about. |
