Actually fae's can be pretty cool. At level 10 you can get a skill that makes it safer to jump off cliffs. And be glad it used to be where the free trial had you stuck on an Island and after you reached level 10 you had nothing to do on the Island.

I played EQ also and I like EQ2 better. Of course it could be that I never got lost on EQ2 and never lost levels on EQ2 like I did on EQ. It is easier then EQ in the sense you don't have to sit to learn a spell. You don't have to worry about going hungry or dying of thirst either. Food is to replenish health out of battle while drinks are for mana. So a lot is different but it isn't hard to learn fast. Oh and I fully understand what you mean by learning more lol. When I stopped playing EQ2 for awhile I went to Starwars Galaxies made a jedi got her to level 90 then quit that because a friend asked me to return to EQ2. Was standing in Qeynos in the bank wondering why the door wouldn't open. Then it hit me duh I have to click the door in EQ2 it isn't automatic like SWG

Well you do have to go through a lot of updates since they put the trial up. Just think of it this way if you like the game and end up buying it you shouldn't have to go through all that again lol.

Oh my 1st post here and it's on EQ2 weeeee. I played EQ2 and stopped for awhile as any online game can get rather boring no mater how many quests they give you. But I did make it to level cap before quiting and was told expansion wasn't out yet. I do like it better then WoW as it is not cartoonish and the player base is more mature. Hardest thing about EQ2 is getting the gold/plat for new equipment. So of course you should take up a craft which means keep up your harvesting and all that stuff. Unlike WoW you can harvest anything you want and sell it to players if you don't need it. And the crafting itself can get rather tiresome. You can't set it to craft 100 walk away from computer, grab a bite and come back and have your items like you could on WoW. So be prepared to sit there and cast things on your crafted items. But over all the game is alot better then when it 1st was released. Yes I played when it 1st came out and you had a choice of like being a mage then doing a quest to be a wizard, conj, or enchanter. Now you can pick that from the very start which makes it a little easier. As for leveling and getting around it isn't to hard nor is it that easy either.
So if you want to give it a shot go for it and have fun :)
