OUCH! How can she take that wrong? "I don't like you" is TOO honest and quite hurtful. How about a more gentle approach? People's feelings are tender, you know. Nobody likes rejection. "I'm sorry, but I don't think we have much in common" keeps you both on the same level, not a put-down.

Hi,

What I usually say, and it's true, is that I don't think we have that much in common. I find common interests and world views so much more important than great looks (although they're icing on the cake!)
