Check out or Google 'Cuenca, Ecuador'. Been researching for 2-3 years and considering a visit next summer to see about permanently moving there in a few years. Very interesting and inviting place. On the Equator. Has a rainy season but the temp is very mild and comfortable year round. Lived, worked & visited 25 countries and Cuenca seems to fit the bill for me. We'll see once I go there myself. Also, highly recommended by many expats as 'the' place to live & retire.
