      A World In Her Eyes

A world breathes in her eyes. A world where wild orchids bloom in balmy, gentle summer evenings; Where yellowing leaves gently flutter in the crisp, nippy autumn breeze, Leaving behind the fragrant promise of pine needles in following springs; Where a lone bird, its wings broken dares to soar against endless skies. A world passes through her eyes. It passes through sunlit nights that lie awake chasing starry days; Through the swell of a sea rising and falling in their depths unseen; It passes through lonely country-roads leading the way home for pilgrim souls, Together with busy, uncaring city-ways; Through joys that endure time's ruthless calls, and just a few occasional sighs. A world whispers in her eyes. It whispers in the silent wind rustling the mangroves growing on their shores; In conch shells scattered on the sands echoing promises of journeys bittersweet, beckoning me to a future dimly lit, and still, with strangely familiar lands; It whispers in the honeycomb of stories, folklores told a million times, yet untold; In the skein of words that nightly unfold in a legend of love, binding silken ties. My world rests content in her eyes. Content to be born, to breathe and die, through countless cycles of eternal life; Content to bead with her name a rosary, chanting it through joys and uncertain strife; A world where weary souls rest their feet, Where wounds heal at the touch of a smile, A world where rains soak parched lips, Where dreams outlive reality all the while; My world perched on the wings of a rainbow, Smiles with her, and with her tears cries. It is this world that sleeps at peace, in repose, As after a long day, slowly her eyes drift close |
