During this year when there have been moments I've cried, my cat has actually pawed or licked my tears away. When I'm not feeling well she lies close and just knows for some reason I need her. Can't explain it -- I guess it's unconditional love. She is a great comfort.

The worst thing for me was losing my job in January 08; it's almost a year and I haven't found a job yet and doubt if I will here in NY. Money is almost gone and I don't know what the future will bring or what will have to me. It's really been quite a struggle.

Yes I find depression hitting me alittle harder this year than in previous years. Since I lost my job, economics and not knowing what's in my future has been kicking my ass. I do try and pull myself up, but honestly there are days I just want to give up.

I can only speak for myself -- my beliefs are simple.
I've been sober for 16 years. I believe there is a Higher Power who keeps me safe and who has guided me through sobriety. There have been times when I wanted to just give up -- but something deep down inside me continually whispers there is always hope. What works for me doesn't work so well for others. I've learned everyone has their own journey. Right now, I'm on really hard times since losing my job and my beliefs have guided me into not losing hope. |

I don't bother with one anymore -- cat thinks it's her personal play toy. After she climbs it and knocks it down one or two times it's not cute anymore. She also steals ornaments and brings them back to you around May or June.
