On Sunday, March 14, 2010 at 2 a.m., Daylight Saving Time begins in the United States. The phrase "Spring forward, Fall back" helps people remember how Daylight Saving Time affects their clocks. At 2 a.m. on the second Sunday in March, we set our clocks forward one hour ahead of Standard Time ("Spring forward"). We "Fall back" at 2 a.m. on the first Sunday in November by setting our clock back one hour and thus returning to Standard Time. Why is this idiocy even in place ... ? 'Daylight Saving Time' ... please. I might have been born at night, but it wasn't LAST night. IF 'DST' is being used to 'maximize' daylight, WHY is it being done when the days are going to be the LONGEST periods of sunlight in the year? It would make more sense (if there's anything sensical about this perpetual imposition) if this were done during the time of year when days are their shortest - THAT's when you need 'extended' daylight. The fact that there are still only 24 hours in the day doesn't stand in the way of the ones who make the rest of us wake up an hour earlier than is necessary. There are three states that do NOT subscribe to this madness. There's a lesson there for the states that have been stupid enough to adopt this infringement on OUR time. Problem is, no one has enough sense of outrage anymore to biitch about it. Sheeple ... Hey don't shoot the messenger.... Nope, not shooting the messenger ... I've just hated this as a concept ever since it was perpetrated on us back in the '60s. Remember drive-in movies ... ? This was one of the things that did 'em in (and yes, I know there were other things, too). As for that whole " ... little children going to school wont be standing in the dark ... " ... Seriously ... ? In SUMMER ... ? That's exactly why this would make MORE sense when days are SHORTER - if it has to be done at all ... duh. I always wondered was it just another thing to make the light company richer. Longer days in summer means more air conditioning running.... Things that make you go, hhhhmmmmmmm...... |
