I honestly think most of them are men. Me'thinks this could very well be the training ground for scammers. Too many times I've been asked to go off-site to chat...then verify who I am before meeting up...smh. I think the tale-tell signs are:

One or no pic (and it's of professional quality).
No info on their profile.
Ask to correspond off the site BEFORE even asking your name (especially if they initiate contact and request in same message).
Their email address ends in "@gmail.com"

There may me other signs, but those stand out for me.
