Hi Bella, that's a tough one for sure. My mother has very similar ideas to your boyfriend's mom. It is hard to accept and live with, as somehow I turned out the complete opposite.

So my advice, try it for awhile and see how it goes. But have a talk with her beforehand about how it's going to be, set some rules. You have to do that with anyone you bring into your private space. She will know you care about her because you are willing to try it out. But your world does not revolve around her; there are other people in your life. On the other hand, if you think it will tear your family apart, maybe you shouldn't. Like you said she has money. You can just continue to visit her frequently.
