I think age is a factor too. If you are over 50 like I am, your perspective may be different than someone who is 20-40 and interested in building a life together and possibly having children. For me a major factor is assets. If I die, I want my sons to inherit what I have worked for and I would want the man I am with to leave his assets to his family. I also feel that it makes for less conflict with grown children who may think you are marrying for money. This is just the way I feel and I do make it clear to men I date from the beginning that I do not want to get married and the reason why. It is their choice if they want to see me.

Yes it was Betty and I did like him a lot and he seemed to like me. We talked all the time and we were together just about every weekend but I think the 2 hour drive one way killed it. It is a shame but that's life. I'm fine but it did hurt. It was like getting punched in the stomach.

I had to work all weekend. I was in a store at 4:30 this morning. They had a Grand Opening at 6AM. These people stood in freezing cold weather from 4AM to get a free bag of groceries. I hope there was chicken soup in there for the colds they will catch. I worked until noon and had a 3 hour drive home. Tonight I feel very OLD!!

I could never do that! I have just been working a lot and nursing a bruised ego. After 3 months the guy I was seeing decided I lived too far away and he didn't have the time to commit to anyone. No arguments or disagreements. Maybe the gas prices rising ruined it Then I met another guy who wanted to spend every waking moment together so that was a no go! I've decided I'm not cut out for this dating stuff!

Leigh, anyone who is not supportive of your relationship is not your friend. It doesn't matter if it is here or in real life. It is up to you and Jerry to find the best way to make it work. Nothing anyone else says matters. Although I have never met him in person, Jerry has been a very supportive friend here to me and I treasure this friendship. If he has chosen you then I know that you are someone I hope to build a friendship with also.

Well my sister has ovarian cancer and is on her second round of chemo. She has the kind of cancer that is resistent to chemo so she may have to continue doing chemo until they come up with the right drug. Not having gone through it myself I know that I am clueless as to what she is feeling.

I think it is wonderful when someone like you gives back and is there to support those facing the feelings that you have experienced.
