Guys who get drunk in front of me. Guys who are habitually drunk.
Guys who flirt with the waitress or the coat check girl on our first date.
Guys who go on and on about the importance of freedom and personal space on a date - why are we dating, exactly?
Guys who want you to come over, when you haven't even met them yet.

Well, I got depressed for a while last year. what helped:

Talking with my brother and sister. They were very rational, and gently pointed out where my thinking was not realistic, but bleaker than it needed to be.
My ex called me every night (we are friends) and he would just ask how I was, and leave it up to me how long we talked.
So, I'm thinking, just keep showing them you are there for them, whether they seem to respond or not. Activity is the cure for depression, so encourage that if you can.

Had a few sessions with a therapist, who taught me a technique for rearanging my negative thoughts a bit, on my own.

What didn't help...medication. I tried it, and maybe there are better pills out there, but these were a disaster. You have to be careful about all medications, some of them have such severe side effects that cancel out any benefit that might be there.

Happily, I am no longer depressed. Some situations improved in my life (for example, I found out I do not have breast cancer after all.)

The pain killer situation sounds scary. Don't know what to suggest about that.

Also, there are websites where people who are depressed can support each other and swap stories, maybe your friend could go on one of those. I would say that it helped me, although, sometimes hearing how tough other people have it was, well, depressing.

And the biggest thing that helped? I found out I was extremely low in iron. Since I started taking iron pills, I haven't been depressed. So, yeah, your friend should get checked for underlying medical conditions.

I have fibroids and I also get cysts, too...But I am used to them, just have really intense periods, sometimes hemorhage. Have done some research. There is a surgical procedure now you could check out; instead of a hysterectomy, they implant tiny surgical beads into the veins that feed the fibroids. This robs them of their blood supply, and they atrophy. It is a simple procedure, can be done in a doctors office, and you'll be able to carry on normally after just a few hours.
There are some natural remedies you might try. I really believe that liccorice tea has helped me...it is supposed to promote tissue repair. And my multivitamin seems to help, too. Also, for pain, tylenol works, or ibuprophen, or, there is a handheld lazer therapy device that I use, like a tens machine. I got mine from Nikken. You could google that. But now I think you could probably find a cheaper one.

I know, that's tough to deal with at first...but, it's important to get full mileage out of you time, cause they will someday be grown and away, and so, you are practicing, right?
I have faith in you, though...
And there are some good suggestions here...manicure, shopping, pedicure, that bubble bath...just think, for once you don't have to act like a role model, so list all the things you don't do when your kids are around and pick one...
No, lol, I don't mean get stoned.drinker

laugh Bug guy, you really crack me up...

Anyway, a bong, for any type of smokeable, is a water pipe with a bunch of tubes coming out of it with little nozzles at the ends, like several have said, for group smoking...Ever see the caterpillar in Alice in Wonderland?? He's smoking one - and hey - what's in that thing?

Maybe your friend is sort of down on himself, I mean, the only edge he thinks he has is he can walk stright and he's older???

Yeah, I guess that might be a hurtful thing to say, but people don't know unless you tell them. Some people are just dufusses that way. The important thing is that it doesn't sound like the intention was to hurt you.

I am my own DJ on YouTube.

I read an old favourite. In the tub, with bubbles.

I call a friend or family member.

Go for a hike, somewhere different.

Avoid drinking...it's a depressant.

I make jewelry (as if I needed more of that, lol).

The Comedy Network sometimes works.

Well, my teenage daughter has excema on hands, inside of elbows, backs of knees and sometmes on her face. She finally got tested we discovered that she does have an allergy, to coconut. Unfortunately, coconut and it's derivatives are used in a very wide array of body lotions and moisturizing bath products. Anyway, getting tested is a good idea.

Some basics that help. Wear cotton. Use dove soap. And try flax seed oil, taken 1 teaspoon a day. Also, according to Earl Minden's vitamin Bible, many different vitamins are good for strengthening your skin and helping it heal itself.

happy Wow, go carting? you must be young and adventurous dear.
I've never tried that.

Well, I have to work 9 to 5 most of the summer, since it's a new job and I'm probationary, but, bless them, they are letting me off for a one week vacation that I booked in March, so I'm going to a family music camp in Quebec. It's so beautiful there.
And, I get to do stuff on weekends - I kinda like summer in the city.

Two shows I thought WERE really painful to watch...

Kept - Where Gerry Hall is looking for a boy toy...especially, the part where she made them get waxed. I have more respect for men than to think this show was cool.

The Swan - All of these ordinary looking women, getting turned into plastic beauties, complete with rigorous diet, excercise (not so bad) ....It was the idea that you have to have plastic surgery to be acceptable to yourself and the opposite sex that really made this a bad show...And, empathy kicks in...Can you say ouch???

Hey I like Idol!
Really, most shows on now are okay with me...and, I don't have to watch if I don't want to.
