Heh. Anyone who looks at my profile can tell that I enjoy the occasional shot of adrenaline (I rode the SkyCoaster at Royal Gorge a few years back) - but there's a BIG difference between an "occasional shot of adrenaline" & mortal terror...

Besides - one of the things that I always try to keep in mind is:

"You get to choose your actions - but you get little-to-no input on the *consequences* of those actions!"

Cheers notbeold, I have experienced the same thing, & I remember that one night rather vividly. I'd grown up watching the Lone Ranger on Saturdays, & I always envisioned myself in a similar role, helping people weaker than myself, righting wrongs, etc. That night I suddenly realized that if the Lone Ranger really existed, sooner or later people would band together to get rid of him one way or another. For better or worse, people want to make their bad choices, & if hearing & seeing your concern doesn't make any practical difference in the situation, then probably the best thing you can do is to remove yourself from their lives.

I and my best friend were like brothers, & we'd fallen for a pair of sisters that we'd known for a number of years. The girl that I cared for consistently fell for guys who abused her - the girl that my best friend fell for allowed one of our coworkers to break one of her fingers with a hammer.

Looking back at it now (with the benefit of several years of hindsight/maturity), the fact that he & I *DIDN'T* get the girls we wanted was probably one of the bigger blessings of our lives...

OK seriously, I was never planning on being "on the market" again, so I'm still "ramping up" for this. I'll have a picture up pretty quickly, but it's not going to be something half-@$$ed just to get something up there, I'm going to have to be happy with it - and (for me) that's easier said than done.

Thanks also for suggesting that I be more specific in what I'm looking for - I'd completely overlooked that.

I'm glad that Nancy posted what she did, because I was thinking pretty much the same thing - followed by "Hell, if _he's_ not getting any responses, I wonder what MY luck will be like??" (HINT: I've heard of some people putting contact info in the text section of their profiles to "help" others to contact them, but you didn't hear that from me...)
