Wow, that exploded. No need to copy / paste your own reply. I have a life away from Mingle, at some point I'll read it. You're stating a lot of things I didn't even mention? Who says I looked up statistics? And yes, ppl will automatically travel to a country that has the image of being paradise, quite logical. Often the images presented in third world or less fortunate countries of western countries aren't particularly realistic. When I was a teenager I had this wonderful view of the States as well. Who doesn't? Like a famous rock-star everyone wants and idolizes. And off-stage he snorts drugs, impregnates women, is depressed, anti-social and beats up paparazzi. Still people will think he's God on earth and keep idolizing him. Just saying, image. As for facilities or technology, sure maybe the US is great at that. But what good does it do if the less fortunate of a country can't even benefit from it? Superior healthcare my @$$! Sure the facilities are there, if you have money. Like in a third world country. I take your word for it that you never directly slagged another country on the forums. But don't you realize you do this by saying "superior", greatest and so on? Thing is that most Americans are so convinces that their country is superior, they don't even think and consider that maybe other countries have their stuff together a lot better? And like Larsson says: Americans can't handle criticism, but you criticize others without hesitation. Just like you feel it's the truth that the US is the greatest, I feel it's the truth when I say it's not! Deal with it. |

I just enjoy the comments at the yahoo article. Have no idea why yahoo users seem to have a higher IQ than many of the posters on this site.
Here is one I found interesting. Building 7 fell in 6 seconds and nothing hit it! ...That's right a 3rd building fell and there was a media blackout about it. Not on single airport security camera showing you a terrorist entering a plane, no plane at the pentagon or shanksville. 2500 architects and engineers telling you that NIST is lying to your face! Nano-thermite found in ''molten metal''...jet fuel burns at 800 degrees steel takes 3000 degrees to melt, I worked at a steel mill for 20 years! http://news.yahoo.com/911-truther-super-bowl-135800473.html;_ylt=AwrBT4BbXPJSzggAmzJXNyoA;_ylu=X3oDMTEzaGM5MGpkBHNlYwNzcgRwb3MDMQRjb2xvA2JmMQR2dGlkA1ZJUDMyMF8x |

What I find interesting are the comments made at the link provided, yahoo allows users to leave comments. Most of them are supporting for a new investigation to 911 and are intelligent, the comments made by the folks who think he is nuts are silly gibberish. I would urge anyone interested in the topic to follow the link and view the comments some good information there. Here is an example. US Army Veteran 42 minutes ago 1 0 The human brain has no firewall, and rational thinking cannot occur in a constant state of fear, which is what most of the country is under after 9/11. There has been a purposeful dumbing down of the public by the public system--- mass media breeds mass deception. What this guy did is what some of us feel we have to resort to. He probably feels that he owes it to you to admit how bad things are. We will have no future if our government continues the way it is going. What risk do we have acting upon his statement if it is true? What do we have to lose if we don't act upon his statement if it is true? http://news.yahoo.com/911-truther-super-bowl-135800473.html;_ylt=A0LEV1jTGvFS.wkA.h5XNyoA;_ylu=X3oDMTEzN2FuMG1nBHNlYwNzcgRwb3MDMQRjb2xvA2JmMQR2dGlkA1ZJUDA3N18x seems odd how all the "good" responses are all smart people, while all the "bad" responses are all silly and gibberish... nice spin, lol Brows the comments Mo it seems the most well thought out comments are from those who are educated and the "knee jerk juvenile comments are from those who support the "official" version of 911. |

This is a very interesting debate even if it is supposed to be about the Super Bowl which I know nothing about. It is easy for people to say go and live somewhere else if you don't like it here as some of you have. Debate is your democratic right as long as it doesn’t get personal. I studied the US health care system during my degree and read and still read a lot of Noamh Chomsky. He has a lot to say about your country. I don't know enough about the US to get to involved but what I will say is my country (UK) is getting dragged back into the 1930's by our coalition government led by the Tories. They want to conserve the old order, the rich get richer and if you’re poor it's your fault. Keep up the debate after all you and I live in a democracy??? |

The 30-year-old man who interrupted Super Bowl MVP Malcolm Smith's postgame news conference to demand an investigation into 9/11 says he used an old festival credential to get past what was supposed to be air-tight security at MetLife Stadium.

Everything that is wrong with america can be seen at the super bowl its a fantasy. It matters not what team wins the world will be the same the rich will get richer and the poor poorer.
The profitable NFL gets about a billion a year in tax subsidies and has taken a page from the corporate playbook and black mails tax payers for new stadiums and upgrades or they will move the team. And then we have Papa Johns the official pizza of the NFL whose owner came out strong against health care coverage, peddles his rotten pizza and sodas to a society of rubes who gladly poison themselves. I am fairly certain the american society is degenerate beyond all hope. |

At one time I did Mr conrad we had a rising middle class we attempted to create a nation based on freedom of speech one free of racial bias
and gender bias with some type of economic equality. Its as clear as day and all facts are clear this is not your grandpas Oldsmobile. Again I ask what type of country lies its way into wars and spies on its own people 24/7 with there own tax dollars and then cuts food stamps to those most in need. a great country does not do that. |

Both parties dem amd repug are silent on this issue and in agreement.
On issues that truly matter they are in lock step. Oh sure one is pro labor one against abortion one for abortion rights etc etc but at the end of the day there really isn't a dimes worth of difference. |

One just has to wonder what it takes to pull peoples head out of the sand. If the Iraq war lies could not do it nor the snowden leaks one just has figure there is a certain % of the population that has zero critical thinking abilities. |

So did anyone else want to puke when they did the national anthem? Suffer from cognitive dissonance when the rolled out the flag and sang. "Oh say does that star spangled banner yet wave, for the land of the free and home of the brave" The answer of course is no. Certainly you can move to another nation that is more to your liking. But your Socialist-Idea of America ain't it either! A strong case can be made that your a shrill or some type of sock puppet. There you go and accuse me of being a Shill again! Actually,if you had some Idea of Switzerland, you'd see we are far less "progressive" than you! Why some of you Guys constantly think of Sweden when they hear Switzerland is a real Mystery to me! |

Cognitive dissonance refers to a situation involving conflicting attitudes, beliefs or behaviors.
This produces a feeling of discomfort leading to an alteration in one of the attitudes, beliefs or behaviors to reduce the discomfort and restore balance etc. For example, when people smoke (behavior) and they know that smoking causes cancer (cognition). Festinger's (1957) cognitive dissonance theory suggests that we have an inner drive to hold all our attitudes and beliefs in harmony and avoid disharmony (or dissonance). http://www.simplypsychology.org/cognitive-dissonance.html |

The hoover damn comes to my mind. Spend a billion on something like that and you create wealth, spend a billion on a stealth bomber and you just spent a billion. Really, and what was the price of the Hoover Dam? And whose wealth did it create? How is that different from the stealth bomber? Did you actually give this some thought or did it just sound "cool"? YOU may not be aware but it generates electricity cheaply and cleanly. so yea it was a great investment. What good is a stealth bomber? what are we defending here in Uber Umerika? good jobs? a great way of life? freedom? Oh sir, I am very aware. The Hoover dam cost 112 lives to build and the stealth bomber doesn't cost lives until after it is built. And both cause intense environmental impacts. And as for good jobs and a great way of life, you have no idea. Mindset stuck on all that indoctrination. Well no problem, there will be a test shortly and those failing will mean well fed vultures and beetles. But I will thank you for the banter we are snowed in here in Ohio and I am doing chores multi tasking but have a nice evening planned so I will have to take this up another day. |

You live in one of the most progressive countries in Europe Mr Conrad why do you wish americans to live in a right wing Darwinian world? maybe you should try to sway your own countrymen on he benefits of free market ya know for profit healthcare and prisons trillion dollar defense budgets that just fleece the taxpayers denying them the benefits of their hard earned taxes. What type of country could we build without all this? I would like to think something like Switzerland. Still think Switzerland is up in Scandinavia somewhere, hmm? You really don't know squat,do you? BTW,since when is Freedom a Rightwing-Utopia! Damn,Karl Trumka and His Merry Boys really did a Job on you! It is me who doesn't think to highly about the State,NOT you! You like to have Big Brother do your bidding whenever it suits you. But he takes one Hell of a Toll, doesn't he? So odd to me that so much of this surveillance is done by private owned companies and not the big brother state your talking about. Just another way to fleece the taxpayers and steal our wealth as a people. |
