I hurt something awful ,
when you walked away.
I felt there could be
no hurt like that day.

Then our son grew up
and as children do,
a beautiful girl came into his life
and he fell in love like I did with you.

Then the day came
and she had to leave for awhile.
It broke his heart
and he lost his smile.

Then the hurt I had been through
was nothing to compare,
to the hurt I felt
my baby boy share.
