Book: Divergent
|
|
Therefore, we propose that in order to eliminate conflict, we must eliminate the disconnect among those with differences by correcting the lack of understanding that arises from ignorance with knowledge. The areas in which people must be educated are: Sociology: So the individual understands how society at large functions. Psychology: So that the individual understands how a person functions within that society. Mathematics: So that the individual is prepared for further study in science, engineering, medicine and technology. Science: So that the individual better understands how the world operates. So that the individual's study in other areas is supplemented. So that as many individuals as possible are prepared to enter tghe fields devoted to innovation and progress. Communication: So that the individual knows how to speak and write clearly and effectively. History: So that the individual understands the mistakes and successes that have led us to this point. So that the individual learns to emulate those successes and avoid mistakes. ( More to follow the other 3 Faction Manifesto) |

To make amends of past mistakes on the board: I want to share to all Minglers the Faction Manifesto from the Divergent Book. As usual, I can only borrow words from people I admire, in this case from Veronica Roth. Taken verbatim from the Divergent book. ERUDITE: THE INTELLIGENT (Faction Manifesto) We submit the the following Statements of Truth: 1. "Ignorance" is defined not as stupidity but as lack of knowledge. 2. Lack of knowledge inevitably leads to lack of understanding. 3. Lack of understanding leads to disconnect among people with differences. 4. Disconnection among people with differences leads to conflict. 5. Knowledge is the only logical solution to the problem of conflict. |

Figuring out?
Give me time.. I'm still checking, the date they have been here & page 25 -next tedious and I'm slow in figuring out. Who's hooked up to who? Give me time.. I'm still checking, it is important, for me not to step on other's shoes. I have done enough damage. Is she? That I dont need time.. I ask her in instant message, Satisfied with the evidence. How to make things right? That I dont have the time.. I'm afraid to make another blunder. The more I clear up things for past mistakes of presuming.. the more I end up..fu@#ing it up. How to make amends? That needs a lot of time.. I don't know where to go from here. Bad enough, they are not seeing me as I am. It's worst when they label & hurt someone because I stupidly associated myself to that individual. Next Move? Give me time.. I get kicked so many times, in the spirit of both bad intentions and good intentions, I need to catch my breath, figure out where it hurts most, and see if this is all worth the trouble or just walk away and never look back. |

finding courage

ChronicLiar:
There is someone here in Mingle that I like. I like her spunk. But every time I come across her posts, I have this feeling... I get curious. I clicked the link of how many posts she has and read her older posts. What I can derive from her posts is she is beautiful. Smart azz at times and very intelligent. I could say her wit is almost legendary. If I will be asked 2 words that will remind me of her, it will be YOUTH AND PARTY. Join my fan club, baby. On a serious note: Not skirting the issue and taking it head on - is for me another way of defining courage. (My way of saying that, with your post..you honor this thread in itself. It took a lot of courage) Your post reminded me of my past mistakes here in mingle. In a way, it makes me more determined to opt for prudence and a a quieter way to search for my Mr. Neverbealone. That in itself is also my way of honoring this thread. Finding courage to move on despite the blunder instead of just quitting. I have kicked enough dust in the board ma'am. Unintentionally if I may say.. So what do you say we move on from here? On a lighter note: I'd like it very much if I can join your fan club.. but I want to be the secretary..im more efficient along those lines This may sound absurd but I say lets take courage to have peace and rock on |

ending disagreements

OK guys you get into a disagreement with your lady, you feel its getting a little bit out of hand. how do u cool it down? diffuse it?? and not get walked all over. My Take: (How do you cool it down?) Calm myself down first. Then check the guy's perspective. There has to be a why? The motive and what really makes him angry. (Diffuse it? - Listen to what he is telling u) Finding out the why he is in disagreement with me is really important and the gravity of the disagreement. Is it a petty disagreement? or an important, life-changing disagreement? ( Not get walked all over) Depends on how I see myself and how important is the 'guy I am in disagreement' is to me.How important is this guy to my life? Giving him time is my prudent way of not getting walked over. There is always the possibility that we just completely misunderstood each other's perspective. The need to be fair and be objective is very important to me on this. So I feel the need to reach out. If that does not work, it's wiser to end the relationship with the guy, than to hurt each other more, over an unresolved disagreement. |

By the way on question no.3 ma'am..
when you say x..it means someone you actually have a relationship with right? Because I have loved someone in the past..still loving the person in my own way..but we never have a "relationship".. that person is the only one I have been trying to contact so far. |

easiest defense don't be someone she'll regret better defense, be someone she respects and trusts. best defense, be someone she AND others respect and trust, and have some discernment on who you chose to roll around in the hay with. then in my opinion all the rest would really be a moot point Bullseye |

THE GAMBLER
|

After a meeting I was coming out of a hotel and I was looking for my car keys. They were not in my pockets. A quick search in the meeting room... it wasn't there. Suddenly I realized I must have left them in the car. My husband has shouted many times for leaving the keys in the ignition. My theory is, the ignition is the best place not to lose them. His theory is that the car will be stolen. Immediately I rushed to the parking lot, I came to a terrifying conclusion. His theory was right. The parking lot was empty. I immediately called the police. I gave them my location, car number and description of the place where I parked etc. I equally confessed that I had left my keys in the car, and that it had been stolen. Then I made the most difficult call of all, to my husband!!! "Honey," I stammered; I always call him "honey" in times like these. "I left my keys in the car, and it has been stolen." There was a period of silence. I thought the call had been dropped, but then I heard his voice. "Idiot", he shouted, "I dropped you at the hotel!" Now it was my time to be silent. Embarrassed, I said, "Well, come and get me." He shouted again, "I will, as soon as I manage to convince this policeman that I have not stolen your car." wahahaha |

My take:
There is always a middle road. Balance is important. What matters is what you value most in life. Others would always see you the way they perceive things. Either they will find you self-righteous or a victim. What matters is how you see yourself and how your love ones see u. There are always areas in one's life, that you lack the knowledge and experience and somehow blundered your way into a given situation. It happens to everyone. That doesn't necessarily mean you are a bad person or morally bankrupt. Trial and error for me is case to case bases. Applicable to any aspects of my life except on love, loving a man, commitment & marriage.. Having morals for me is always best. Though morals is subjective in itself. if you have morals, you wont intentionally hurt or lash out to someone..you always hold back. Decency.Accountability.- it dictates who you are as a person.. no matter how other people sees you. |
