When this country was young and the first militia was founded it was mandatory that each citizen (man) owned and carried a rifle. If you didn't own one it was issued to you and had to be paid for by service or debt. The term "keep your powder dry!" came about because there were frequent checks to the weapons of the citizens and if your powder was not fresh, you didn't have enough musket balls or wadding, you could go to jail and be fined. It was unamerican not to be prepared to defend your rights or your country. We have fallen long and hard from the traditions that made this country great! To say we need less guns and more control of them.... you may as well put out a sign that says criminals and terrorists welcome here! The government already does a good enough job of robbing us! Gun control is against the constitution and our rights, always has been, and since it began our liberties have more rapidly slipped from our grasp, stolen by greedy politicians who don't wish to be tarred and feathered by armed citizens they have upset! this man is so right on People

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Gun rights advocates found an unlikely ally in the Democratic-controlled House of Representatives on Wednesday as lawmakers passed a measure allowing concealed, loaded firearms to be carried in national parks. http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/05/20/house.guns/index.html?iref=newssearch We may not be able to cross state lines but can enter national parks, but why would I want to take my gun hiking? Ya might have to shoot a bear. or a Mountain Lion or a giant feral swine or a Timber Rattler 
or a crazed loony tune who just escaped from a federal penitentiary
That does it I will not be visiting any National Parks - a bunch of craziness out there
and this is not an exaggeration at all
I was out in the boonies in the Sierra Nevada foothills
and a Ranger came down warning us of a nutcase in the area
and with people encroaching on the territories of wild animals & with the moratoreum on the hunting of Mountain Lions i am almost certain it is still in effect the Lions are getting hard up for enough prey to sustain them and they have no fear of people
and they are highly efficient skilled hunters

Ok back to the original topic of the senate vote on this issue. It seems the anti gun people have gotten their way this time. I wish it would have gone the other way but it did not. I actually did not expect it to pass but was very hopeful as it seemed to make a lot of sense to me. If only a few of my fellow students at Virginia Tech had been carrying firearms when that sick bastard had them trapped and started shooting them all.  I am soo sorry

I have a friend over on mission and I am so pleased every time I hear from him to know he is safe, and I pray for everyone's safety... I have 2 sons (my oldest son's birthday is 09/11) and I was able to take my youngest last summer to watch the homecoming of a local soldier at the airport...so beautiful to watch him reunited with his family....

Good Morning My Dear Sister Beckie
hope this day finds you happy & healthy
 oh we had a typical interruption
in the wee hours of the morning
here in lovely jungleland
 as if we don't have enough of a water shortage
and then these morons around here  who have nothing to do
 and all day & night to do it started a fire
about twenty or thirty feet from my place in a huge dumpster
that was being used to remodel a large building nearby
so we had a big fiasco about 1 - 2 Am right outside my door
my poor plants are struggling to survive
they won't even let me use a hose only a watering can
but all that precious water that was used totally wasted
cause some dumbsh!t was bored & decided to start a fire
he should have dived into the dumpster along with the fire
