The first time in probably 5 years a thread that has actualy sparked thought in my head. This may be a little long and jumpy but here goes.

Ill start with a little bit of my past. I broke up with my ex-girlfriend about 4 years ago. Depression kicked in big time, almost immediatly I lost my job of 9 years. Within a years time I began to drink, looking back not the best idea. I had never touched a drink before this, Ive known my whole life I was an alcholic and chose to stay away.

Mardi Gras came and she stood me up. After that day there wasnt a day that whole year where I wasnt in the bar getting ****ed up. It took exactly that long for me to go through three jobs, my jeep and my house. All of which could have been saved if I had cared enough to do so.

This past summer I spent 3 days in a mental institution after being commited for suicidal/homicidal behavior. I tried taking a gun from a cop, and told him to just shoot me when I failed. My blood alcohol level was .183 which was taken about 3-5 hours after I was admited.

Currently Ive had one drink this year, was hoping to stop but honestly it doesnt look like that will happen. Her birthday is this comming saturday, and she wants me to come out for a drink. Im an apprentice finisher currently looking for work. The last job I walked out on, with good reason.

So now Ill answer the question at hand, "What do you really have to offer"

I can offer an understanding ear, a forgivefull heart. I can offer my humour and with it a life time of laughs. I can offer helpfull advice. I can offer help in your time of need. In a nutshell I can offer my friendship.

But in my opinion the question itself is flawed. It shouldnt be What do you really have to offer. But instead the question should be What are you willing to accept. You can offer someone the world, but it means nothing if there not willing to accept it from you.

Its hard when youve lost your hopes and dreams, its even harder when it seems to happen overnight. It just makes it worse when you refuse to reach out for help when you need it the most.

And to answer my question, the truth is I dont know what Im willing to accept. I guess Ill have to figure that out when I get there, such is life...
