Ciretom does have a point though. I have noticed that there are different levels of friendship and that different people label these differently.

If a 'friend' doesn't show up consistently, there probably is a reason. They may be hiding it from you, or they may think that it doesn't even bother you that they didn't show up. Have you asked them about it?
