Anyone who wants to help me being sending care packages to our servicemen and women over seas, let me know.
This is something near and dear to me. I am gathering information to help, so please, if you have info or you want to help donate to a good cause, I can provide a wish list from the soldiers. I can also give a few addresses. You can ship it yourself if you want, but I don't mind having it shipped C.O.D. to me and I can pay the costs of shipping overseas. I am well-versed in customs forms, as I have to ship crap to my ex-husband in Israel multiple times a month. I can also provide ways of getting free packaging for your packages. Just let me know. They are fighting a good fight. And FREEDOM isn't free for a soldier. Definition of a Veteran. A veteran is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life". That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it. ......Author unknown |

Lots of views, and very few posts. It doesnt have to involve money, it can be as simple as writing a letter to a soldier. Who knows, for ou single ladies it may help you find a good man too.... Funny thing is, my soldier clicked on me first. And on his pictures he didn't have military garb on. In fact, I didn't know until he told me. I am so proud of him! He really opened my eyes to the war. I was once anti-war, but now, I will support him till the day I die. And most soldiers, they are there fighting for strangers. The least we can do it show them our support. Let them know they are not fighting in vain. And the single soldiers? Let me tell you something, ladies. My soldier, before he met me, was broken hearted. He had no one to love him and be proud of him. But now, even his soldiers (he is a Staff Sergeant) say he is happier and more full of fight. Give them love and they will strive to fight harder and be home sooner. All it takes is a letter ladies. And gentlemen, there are female soldiers out there too, you know. |

Starting tomorrow, I will be doing my best to email 2 soldiers a night while I am at work. (yes, it is that boring.)
Also, for parents with kids. I have recently found out that soldiers love getting letters from kids. Maybe go to a PTA meeting and see what you can do to get kids to write to penpals in Iraq or Afghanistan or Kuwait... I will be going to my daughter's preschool on Monday with the idea. Especially since I live 2 blks from an Air Force base and a lot of the children have military parents. Plus, kids love drawing and telling stories, and I know that I laugh everytime my daughter tells me what she did during the day. Maybe you can get your child to tell you what they did at school (if they are too young to write) and draw a picture of it and send it to a soldier. Remind them that people care and that they are appreciative of the freedoms they are fighting to give you and your children. I know that on my roughest days, nothing gets me laughing like my daughter's silly ideas.I have her right now drawing pictures of her family for to send to soldiers. Let your kids say thank you. You don't even have to be personal about it. Go to the Dollar Tree or Wal-mart and pick up a thank you card and just thank someone. Do you know how good they will feel? You will never get to see it, and they probably won't tell you, but soldiers do cry. Help them see that they are important. Help them find joy in the life that they chose. Don't do it to say, "Hey, I did it." Do it to say. "Hey, YOU are doing it!" |

As a veteran myself, I know the importance of getting letters and packages from home. I was in Baghdad for the better part of a year and let me tell you, I cherished every word of every letter I ever received. What Myriah is doing is absolutely commendable. I wish everyone could write. Believe it or not, some soldiers dont have anyone back home writing them. Even a letter, post card, or a simple thank you speaks volumes to someone in a horrible situation like the one over there. So, thank you to those who participates in this and also to Myriah for being such a wonderful person. |
