definitely an interesting thought.
my brother is severely dyslexic...but right-handed. i am completely ambidextrous, other than having a slight advantage in writing with my right hand...and that's only because my first-grade teacher and principal held a conference with my mother and forced me to "pick" a hand, as they were worried about "brain confusion". (read: teacher didn't want to teach both hands, and there were NO lefties in the class.) i picked right, as that's what i felt pressured to do...but i even eat, put on make-up, and use my box-cutter with both hands... two of my children are lefties...one has gorgeous hand-writing, while the other has dysgraphia... makes you wonder if maybe the gene for dyslexia is located somewhere near the gene for handedness. |
