As I have so many times, I put together words that had meaning and rhymed

A general subject she gave to me, nothing detailed, just write about the USMC

I was happy with the end result, but had no idea how much it would help to mend

She who requested the poem put down the day he was born and the day he ended

When I read her words and saw the dates, I closed my eyes and felt myself shake

Then overwhelmed eyes gave way and I cried like a baby as I felt the heart ache

I felt such tremendous feelings for her loss, at such a young age, at the foot of the cross

It truly WAS my honor to have honored her brother, whom she said would be proud

Having no idea of what the core of the subject was, I found myself at a complete loss

Then for a longer amount of time, I released myself to tears and cried aloud

Today I sat here thinking about my brother
How our love was like no other
This man stood so straight and tall
Until one night he did fall
They found him dead shot through the heart
Of my life he is still apart
I asked today for a poem to be wrote
Then when I read it my heart did float
The man of pen is sweet and dear
We all know him we met him here
For you Den I have great respect
I'm so glad you did reflect
Was not my intention to make you cry
I did so myself till my eyes ran dry
You too have been a fighting man
You gave your service to protect this land
I love you my friend heart and soul
With you and family this country is whole.

Thank you all so very much. True story, this one. I'm in awe of all the compliments and sis you did a great job on yours as well. I have peace in my heart and hope you do too. Thank you
