Topic: Get Ready For President McCain | |
---|---|
I have come to accept this fact in my mind. John McCain is going to be the next President of the US. The Wright controversy has brought Barack Obama down to the level of a typical politician in alot of people's minds. That was his one advantage over McCain or Hillary. This long drawn out primary has cost the Dems there best chance since at least 1992 to take back the White House.
So reading the tea leaves here is what I see: The GOP in the House are defending roughly 15 seats of retiring incumbents, and other open seats, the Dems have had only about 3 or 4 retirments. So even as McCain is sweeping to victory he is likley to bring in a Dem House with an increased majority. The Senate will be the same. The Dems have a great pick up chance in Virginia, and a good one in New Hampshire, as well as a decent shot at a seat in Colorado. The GOP has at this point only one good target, Mary Landrieu's seat in increasingly Republican Louisiana. So the Dems pick up a seat or two in the senate to reach 53 seats. Bottom line John McCain who has made his name over the years working with Dems on legislation like McCain/Feingold will have to work with A Dem Congress starting on Jan 20,2009. Please no comments about how much the two party system sucks and that people will be throwing away their vote for Ralph Nader or some other crack pot. This is the system we have, deal with it. |

i am not very political & never have been
and I often do not know who to vote for because of all the lies and deceptions, the back stabbing, the lowlife behavior, the blatant promiscuity by bill clinton and the acceptance & tolerance of it by his cowardly & nauseating wife. for her own personal gain, rather than putting her foot down and divorcing herself from his sorry existence ... in my opinion... Out of all the candidates... my observation is that John McCain will be best to serve our Country in the capacity of President because he is a war hero and suffered tremendously as a POW... and i don't think any of the others running for office could even slightly compare to that kind of love, dedication & bravery |

McCain will win no doubt. Obama has no structure behind his words, and the whole thing with Rev. Wright will hurt him a lot too. Clinton is a joke. This election is already over, thank God

Just the very fact that John McCain could work WITH Russ Feingold speaks volumes.
NO ONE can work with Russy Feingold. He's the MOST liberal member of the US Senate, and is hated by 95% of the counties in Wisconsin. Sadly, Milwaukee County and Dane County, the two most liberal counties in Wisconsin, have ALL the social/economic, liberally-afflicted voters in them. The McCain-Feingold bill is a prime example of why the conservative base of the Republican party is wary of John McCain, but it's also the best indicator that he has more galvanizing power than either Clinton or Obama. <sigh> |

I said that back at the beginning when the only real canidates the Dems were putting forward were Obama and Clinton. They just threw away the best chance they ever had to get back in the White House. Seriously, the dems should have walked away with this next election and they blew it before they evn got out of the primary.
Id like to point this out. Notice how even the GOP primary candidates worked with each other, while all the Dem Candidates could do was talk bad about each other. Wonder how well they would have worked with anybody else if they couldnt even work with themselves. I love the multi party system, but its only going to work to our advantage if we can all get along. The idea is to meet in the middle and as far left and/or right we have been lately Im glad someone like McCain is an option. |

Lindyy says:
We need the multi party. Can you imagine what it would be like if we only had 1 (if any) political party to chose from? We are all different, different ideas, opinions, likes, dislikes, and we ALL have the right to be represented. Lindyy |

One party? China? Pre-1989 Russia? Cuba?

I vote.
I am digusted by what's happened to the process I don't believe it does much good, but I vote for the principle of it. Hillary's a joke. Obamba came out of no where, too fast, too smooth, too pretty, saying what he thought we wanted to hear. (He probably practiced on an online dating site!) Mc Cain is looking like the lesser evil to me right now, & several Democrats I know have said they are considering him. We need an electable Independant. I had hopes for Ron Paul early on, but quickly decided he's not all there... The choices are bad, the system is worse. I wish I had the education & charisma to do something about it. But for now... I vote. |

The only real problem with McCain besides supporting expanding Bush's tax cuts are that we will have no change in policy in Iraq and continue the occupation there.
