What gives the government a right to charge people for winning something? If you win the lottery you only get about half of it, if you win a non monetary prize then you have to pay about half the value of the prize. Its an example of how the government over reaches its power.

It's the same right they have to charge you an occupational tax in order to earn money, income tax after you get money and then sales tax in order to spend that money. Of course, don't forget that in order to pay those taxes you have to live somewhere. So, they charge you a property tax for that. I'd go on, but the government might read this and decide to charge a tax for thinking about taxes.
