I'm guessing most of us came here to find someone. Before Internet dating and still with it, our friends and family at times feel the need to fix us up on blind dates.
Which is worse? Why? Share with me... |

I'm guessing most of us came here to find someone. Before Internet dating and still with it, our friends and family at times feel the need to fix us up on blind dates. Which is worse? Why? Share with me... Ohh, I don't do blind dates (especially if family) even friends were to set me up. Been there before and I felt like the person sitting before me, was a better match for my "friend" rather than for me. I don't know, maybe they think they're doing us a good deed by helping out; but I also feel that maybe they're picking out people they find to be a good catch (personally); perhaps, not aware of it! As for family setting me up.. HELL no, I wouldn't trust their judgement if my life counted on it I thank God for the internet |

My mother fixed me up on a blind date. It went quite poorly..... but I humored her by meeting him. He was a very handsome young doctor but not for me.

Anybody on here blind? I could use a date!!
Friends and family always seem partial towards those that don't necessarily coincide with what you consider to be a good match. Probably be a lot more fun than not going out at all, though! |

Yep. My last blind date was a recovery addict. What was she thinking? (my friend)

see a recovery addict what wa syour frined thinking now you have a hard time trusting hin/here seetting you up Well, thank goodness I'm no longer in need. I see why she likes the guy, sort of. But he is not at all my type. I have no problem with people in recovery, as my current SO is in it, but this guy lived and breathed it. Every activity and word out of his mouth. As for my friend? I know she had my interests in mind~ she just could not seperate them from her own preferences. |

Therein lies the main problem with blind dates. |

I'd run for the border with no trouble... literally and figuratively. I like a taco now and again!

I would much rather be set up by a friend. At least I know I won't end up with an axe murderer or an arsonist (that one really happened from on-line) or my ex-wife or someone pretending to be someone I would actually have a snowblower's chance in hell to be interested in.
I had one friend who fixed me up about 50 times, and about 40 of those turned into short-term, non-catastrophic diversions. That's a hell of a lot better than I'll ever do here. |
